No second class to take today. No way. There was nothing she needed to learn, and there were more important things to do. Like more practice! With a bit more time she was hoping she could finally gain some insight on how to better excel. She had to. It was her promise after all, and even if her parents didn't know, she would make their lot better in life. She would earn them the respect they deserved. Especially mom.
"Man, halls sure are quiet during class hours."

Ikoma Renmaru was on his way back to his office. Back from his class on literature. Today, he had introduced the kid's to Genji's Tale and they seemed about as interested in it as he was in going back to his office to grade homework. That was his job though, so it had to be done. Talking was the easy part; the paperwork was the monotonous stuff.
He let out a small sigh, until he came upon the green haired student and was pulled from his revelry. "Hmmm. Hey there, Moto-san. Aren't you 'sposed to be in class right now?"

Ayumu froze in place. Well, not literally. But it might as well have been! She craned her neck around to look at who spoke to her. Huh, she didn't recall seeing him before. "Oh, uh, no sensei! I don't have a class this period today. I uh, decided to sort of roam the halls a bit. I normally don't get the opportunity to do. Thought maybe I could familiarize myself with it. You know, uh, for my classes I will have later today."

Renmaru turned his head a little to the side, a lot like a dog who was thinking and look confused. Then it dawns on him.
"You must be a transfer student then, right? New to the school?" He pauses and smiles. "Which class are you lookin' for? I can probably point you in the right direction."

"Oh. Oh! Uh, my next class would be... uh..." Ayumu patted herself down, trying to find the piece of paper she had written her classes down on. The schedule ended up always changing on her. Snatching out the crudely folded paper, she unfolded it and looked over her writing. Ugh, why was it sloppy today?
"I think painting. Yeah, painting! But it's not until after lunch." She looked up at the sensei. "Um, not to change the subject, but I don't think I've seen you before. What do you teach?"

Renmaru smirked and folded his arms across his chest, trying to puff it out in a vainglorious manner of boasting.
"Ah ha, I see. Never heard of the great poet and storyteller, Ikoma Renmaru-san have you? Far and wide, the courts of the Rokugan wait for my triumphant return! The number of auditoriums and courtrooms I have swayed into either laughter or tears if beyond measure! I've published books, essays, rakugo records!"
A pause, as his chest sinks back down to earth a little. "Well... rakugo is a dying art form. So here I am, now a sensei in the capital, trying to teach students creative writing and literature."

She blinked at him. Ikoma Renamaru? Never heard of him before, so how the heck did he get a job here? She racked at her brain for a bit, but that was like running into a wall. Ouch. Can't tell him that you never heard of him, which made no sense. Why couldn't she remember him? She had been pretty good about memorizing everyone elses names.
"Well, uh, wow. I uh... don't know what to say to such a famous person. Consider me star struck, Ikoma-sensei. Umm... where did you play at originally? For your rakugo stuff I mean!"

"Lion lands is where I got my start, in Shiranai Toshi. We're the clan with a stark majority of the sensei left - though the Crane and Phoenix still have a few." He gives the young girl a curious look. "Do you know what Rakugo is, Moto-san? Oh, and by the way, the art room is on the second floor."

"Oh, thanks!" She would definitely slot away the second floor for sure. As for that question...
"It's that thing where the guy sits at the front of an audience and tells a really fun or cool story, right? They got that cushion, and they wave the fan about, and even change their voices and what not! Right? We had a sensei come in once to do that for us when I was younger," She grinned widely, "It was pretty neat."

"Oh, wow, so you do know what rakugo is!" Renmaru replies quite happily, nodding his head up and down with a broad smile.
"I'm actually lookin' for someone to pass down the art to! A... a pupil, if you will. But none of the students here seem interested enough to learn or they don't even know what it is. Don't suppose you'd be interested in takin' lessons?"
