"I will be sure to plan for that eventuality. And thank you, that means a lot to me," Sakura replies, looking to the Utaku, "I...do hope the chance to tell Shoshuro Sakura-shyrio those things helped."

She nods. "They did. Unlike your mother, I didn't get a chance at closure. So many things left unsaid, if only because I took her advice and learned her lessons too late."

"Hindsight is sometimes just as valuable as foresight, but the cost of gaining it is sometimes higher," Sakura says, "Because so long as we learn from our mistakes, we may eventually develop a small bit of foresight out of hindsight."

She smiles a bit. "Spoken like a true student of the Togashi. Though a rather long-winded way of saying learn from our mistakes, don't you think?"

"One that exposes more of the truth, though," Sakura says with certainty, "Because it is considering the whole of it, rather than just part."

Definitely taught by monks. The notion makes the Utaku smile a little bit.
"Seeing the whole is something most of us tend to forget, I imagine. Or the reverse. Focus on the whole while forgetting the individual parts," she answers, thinking on the response. She wonders, perhaps, if this is the sort of conversation that this young Sakura and Aiko would have. "Though now you have me wondering. What do you see when you look at Shosuro Sakura?"

The young Mirumoto considers this for a moment, "I see someone who was an amazing actress, one who devoted herself to her clan and to the Empire to the point where she sacrificed her greatest ambitions and future recognition on the altar of Duty. I see a woman who...did not feel she deserved what little bits of happiness she did find, because she kept placing her clan and her sensei before herself. She loved and cared for certain people, and while she did seek to make sure things went the way she wanted to, she usually wanted what was best for her friends, her clan and the Empire. All in all, she is...complicated."

"We are nothing if not seven habits," Hisui says, speaking an old proverb that she thinks the young Mirumoto may have heard at some point. "But yes. She was --- is? I'm not sure about the grammatical nuances when speaking of ghosts --- a complicated woman. She just had an unbelievable talent for making it all look so simple. I admit, some of what you're saying is new to me or are things I only suspected, but you know her better than I do at this point, I imagine."
"I can only hope she finds peace once she's helped you find whatever success she thinks you should have."

Did your mother and I really have closure, though? I can't imagine the guilt she feels because I died due to her trying to save a friend that others would have slain without a second thought.
She paused, then offered a slight, if sad, smile. I would expect nothing less from her, though. She always was optimistic if idealistic. Though she did answer my question of what she would do if she found herself in Hitomi's place and I believe she failed at Hitomi's choice but did so in a way that was so incredibly...
The smile grew a little, showing that the yokai held no animosity for what happened, Her.
Her eyes shifted back to Hisui, offering a bow at both of their compliments even if only the younger Sakura could see it. I see two people whom were among my three best friends when I look at her and your mother. Two people who have grown into fine adults despite the difficulties they faced. Despite the pain of loss they've both endured. And I wish them nothing but happiness as thanks for their loyalty to me, I only wish I could be there with them to experience it all.

Sakura weighs how to relay the information that the dead woman has dumped on her, because, hey, it's very personal and she's not sure how to adequately relay the information in a respectful manner.
