"Interesting." She listens, observes. The knife technique reminds her of a few tricks she learned with a sword. Idly, the Utaku wonders if she could adapt them. "I imagine different fish require differrent procedures to prepare correctly?"

Kogeki nods. "Oh yeah, the different fish have very different ways to cut. I can try to show you the different methods though." he says as he takes another and slices it up, dicing this fish finely this time into almost powder.

"How long did it take you to learn all this, Gyushi-san?" she asks, curious. She wonders if she'd have had the same skill if she'd studied cooking early on in life. "An art can take a long time to study, especially one as involved as preparing food, I would think?"

"Not gonna lie sensei, my dad started teaching me when I was 7 years old. Been working it ever since. Mind you, that's for like fancy stuff. I can teach you to make some rice and skin a fish and make basic dumplings no problem. Cookings my life you know? It's what I always wanted to do."

"Another time, Gyushi-san. I'd hate to risk ruining a perfectly good meal," she says with a smile. "But I'll take you up on that offer sometime. I will, of course, be happy to compensate you for your time."

He smiles brightly. "Thanks. I really do need the work. With me helping out the restaurant back home suffered a little but um...well I made more money so far then my family made all last year. It's a pity. Dad's such a good chef. But they don't see him. I am hoping I can get seen. So I can take care of my parents in their old age. I don't wanna jinx it but....I think I can afford to buy them a bed when I get back. No idea where I will put it but.... I mean."

"Not even a proper bed? Unacceptable. Let me cover the cost of one, please," she says, indignant. Something so simple a comfort could be denied what appeared to be good and honest people? It offended her at a basic level. "You can figure out where to put it later."

"Perhaps you should reconsider such things Utaku-San." A voice that no doubt one or both of them would rather not hear. "After all I to have a vested interest in Gyushi-San." Otomo Katsumi casually struts in. She places her finger to her lips and smiles. It feels like ages Utaku Hisui. Now is not quite the time to destroy you but I feel... A gentle teasing would be in order. She glances over at Gyushi Kogeki. "I believe in the past I had offered you a job Gyushi-San. You can still work in my manor as my private chef. I have promised to take quite good care of you." She snaps her fingers. "Perhaps I can fly your parents in and they can work in my manor as well. Would that not be an ideal arrangement?"

Kogeki smiles. "I mean I'm not gonna say no if you are offering Utaku-sensei." he says as he begins to season and mix sauce with the diced fish.
Then heh ears the new voice and he looks up. "Oh! Hey Otomo-sensei. I mean as long as it's closed kitchen and I have access to the staff I could always use the work. Parents wouldn't want to leave the Restaurant though. They put way to much into that place, would never leave it."

"Otomo-sensei, what a surprise." A most unpleasant one, at that.
And here Hisui thought she could have a pleasant conversation. Instead, she finds herself in the shark tank again. She doesn't think she needs to rescue the Spider just yet, but she tries to prepare for that in case it will happen.
"How have you been these past few days?"
