"I'm not sure, honestly," he replies, leaning back with a sigh as he finishes his meal. "Perhaps it's gratitude, that you'd place your trust in me to see your task done, or that, of all our clan mates, you've tried the hardest to live up to our ideals, standing with me while the rest have mostly gone. Maybe I thought some mutual happiness could be gained from the effort, lascivious connotations aside. Or it could be that it's just vanity, and I'd simply wished to succeed for once where I failed so miserably with Katsumi." He shrugs.
"Facing a potential ending, one tends to find their perspective and priorities shifting," he finishes somewhat philosophically.

Yokohime shook her head and smiled. She couldn't help it but she gave the man a hug. "It's okay, your life won't end even if the dream ends. I am sure that like very optimistic me you too will find someone to reciprocate your feelings." She whispered in his ear. "You are not that old you know." The girl giggled and kissed the Shosuro's cheek.
