It had been a long time since he'd set foot in here, Kumataro noted with a pang of nostalgia as he set foot in the basketball court. It looked like he was alone in here, and the silence surprised him. His memories of this place were those of roaring crowds filling the bleachers, the squeaking of shoes on freshly polished wood, the alarm buzzers that would sound as a basket was scored...but he'd forgotten how quiet it could be. The bleachers were empty, the score boards were off, and it was only him in here.
Frowning, he shrugged to himself and went to get a ball. He figured he'd come here and shoot a few hoops, for old time's sake. It would also help to get himself reacquainted with the court, since it seemed like he'd be spending a lot of his time here. He had to admit, while the court had seemed huge in his high school days, when compared to the stadiums he'd played in during his professional career it seemed quaint. He liked that, in a way. It reminded him of where he came from.
He dribbled the ball a few times and threw it, making a basket with nothing but net. He grinned, even after all these years he still had it. He had been worried he didn't, because if that was the case he had no business being the coach here. Encouraged by this, he began to perform more advanced maneuvers, bobbing and weaving against imaginary players as he made his way down the court for a slam dunk. As the ball entered the net, he swore he could hear a crowd cheering, but once he hit the ground and looked around there was nothing there. Just him, the ball, and the court. Somberly, he picked up the ball and began shooting hoops again.

Kaizen was on his way to the weight room when he came across the Crab. He nodded to him and kept on going until the ball came to his feet. "Nice shot" he said, as he tossed the ball back to him. it was not the most graceful throw, but it did pack a punch. The Crab might be able to tell that finesse was not his strong point.

Kumataro caught the ball and grinned.
"Thanks, I'm a bit rusty but it seems I've still got it."
Idly, he began tossing the ball back and forth between his hands.
"Name's Hida Kumataro, by the way. What's yours?"

does he really not know me? He shruged slightly. "Kaizen... Mitau Kaizen." He gave a humble bow.

If Kumataro knew who this kid was, he didn't show it. He jerked a thumb back at the basketball hoop.
"I was just shooting some hoops. Wanna join me?"

He thought about it for a moment. "Basketball isn't really my thing but sure. I know the basics." He motioned for him to pass the ball.

"That's what I like to hear!" replied Kumataro, passing the ball to Kaizen.

"That's what I like to hear!" replied Kumataro, passing the ball to Kaizen. He caught the ball, dribbled it a little and took his shot. It was close, nothing but building a brick house. "I would be better on tje defense... Heh" he chuckled as one shot made it in off the backboard.

"Wanna try some defense?" Kumataro asked, catching the ball as it fell through the net.
"I give you a challenge then: try to keep me from making a basket on the other end of the court."
Kumataro grinned playfully.
