Benten. Bishamon. Inari. Hotei. So many fortune's to call favor upon or to be unwittingly blessed by, their reason and wisdom only for them to know why one might be loved more than another. Then there came the elements themselves, each and every single one of them so simple yet so diverse. Tsuki knew not why the kami spoke to her so, or why the elements had taken such a strong favoring for her. Even her mother had not been so greatly favored by them, though that didn't mean her mother was any less a master of working with them. Perhaps one day,Tsuki thought, she might even achieve such a greatness. She couldn't say for certainty though. No one could.
The young shugenja sat in silent prayer, her hands intertwined with a small set of beads that reflected the flames of the few candles that lit of the old temple room. Her eyes remained open and fixated on nothing more than the statue of the great Bishamon, poised with weapon in hand and standing triumphantly after some battle. Any shugenja worth their koku knew that proper reverence was needed to keep the kami in tune with one self, and Tsuki heeded it for what it's worth was. Even more if school was to start. Nothing hurt after all. Time passed and eventually the woman lowered her hands, her gaze drifted from the statue, and her prayer ceased. She was done for this day.

Not one to forget his own prayers, Tamori Yoshi also decides to take this time to honor the Fortunes before meditating and then turning in for the evening, though he has no beads to grasp nor incense to offer. He notices the Crane woman praying before Bishamon as he approaches Fukurokujin to offer his own reverence. He spares a thought to hoping she finds the strength she seeks as he silently hopes for wisdom for himself. He stays kneeling for a time after Tsuki rises but feels obligated to also stand when she doesn't immediately depart, lest she think he was continuing to pray in order to avoid her. He doesn't think himself worthy of initatiating conversation with her either, though, and so just lingers, awkwardly silent.

The woman lingered for a bit of time, her own thoughts getting the better of her and wholly unaware of the young man whom stands but a number of feet away. Her only moment of realization comes when she takes note of the young man's presence and looks to see whom had joined her in what the shugenja had assumed was to be a solitary visit.
Her gaze pounced upon the young Dragon as wits returned to her, but words came out later than intended and wholly made it appear as she had just been staring for a moment longer than desired. Her friendly mannerisms were not so slow to kick in, however. "Hello. I didn't think anyone else would be here." She said in soft, welcoming tone.

Yoshi blinks in genuine confusion, looking around to wonder at why the Crane wouldn't expect more people to come and pray. He's also fairly taken by surprise to have been spoken to at all, rather than just receiving a courtesy-bow of acknowledgement before the woman moved on. Therefore, a few more moments pass of staring wide-eyed before his own etiquette kicks in.
"I'm sorry if my presence disturbed you, Crane-sama," he says, bowing deeply in apology. His voice is almost a whisper, to convey reverence and respect. Somewhat encouraged, though, by her friendly tone, he adds a little louder, "I am Tamori Yoshi, First Year."

Her smile widened slightly as she gently shook her head at Yoshi's apology. "No, please, don't apologize to me." She had been the one to speak first after all, even if they had been just standing and staring at one another longer than anyone rightfully should. "It is my pleasure to meet you, Tamori Yoshi-san," She offered a deep bow in turn, "I am Kakita Tsuki, Second year."
She straightened back up and moved to the incense holder to collect her simple belongings. Her eyes, opting to perhaps grac something other than the young man's body, moved to where he prayed to. There was a slight pause before she spoke again, an innocent curiosity in her voice. "Do you have incense to burn, Tamori-san?"

"It's... I'm... pleasured... to meet you also... Kakita-sama," he cobbles together a reply from the words that were bouncing around inside his spinning head. He found that Tsuki's widened smile was both relaxing and intimidating him at the same time, and his brain was at a momentary loss to reconcile those facts. It did, however, helpfully inform him that he'd sounded like an idiot just now.
After taking a deep breath to regain his mental footing, as well as to recall and process her question, he adds sheepishly, "No, I haven't any incense."

The girl let out a small laugh behind her hand. It was gentle, soft, and sincere in the innocent joy found at Yoshi's scramble for words. She knew that perhaps laughing didn't fully help the Tamori and so quielty stepped away to collect her belongings, including the small container of incense she had brought. Her steps brought her back over to the Dragon where she held out a small stick for him to use. "Here, you can use this. I am certain it will better help your prayers to be heard."

Her laughter makes Yoshi's heart positively flutter, struck by how devoid of cruelty it is. The young Dragon was far more accustomed to the opposite. Fortunately, he receives another moment of respite to compose himself as she gathers her things before returning to him.
"No, please," he replies to her offer, shaking his head vigorously. "I... I'm sure I'll find time this weekend to get my own...." The humility in his statement is more than sincere; he's genuinely concerned with not taking her things over just refusing out of politeness.

Her face took on an almost surprised look. The purity of his desire sent a faint ripple of elation through her, and it was why she offered it up again to Yoshi.
"Please, do take it. You deserve to have it, and I would feel remiss if I didn't offer to what little I can." Her voice echoed quietly in the otherwise unoccupied chamber, and her hands rose up a little higher in hopes that the earnest man might finally take it.

Her own sincerity almost moved Yoshi to take the offered incense immediately, but it was here that he remembered his training in etiquette. While this wasn't a formal gift-giving by any means, he was sure that it was still generally rude to take something offered from another samurai without refusing at least twice. Moreover, he certainly didn't want to be the cause of relations between their two Clans to become even more strained than they were already. It was very like a teenager, especially a self-conscious one like Yoshi, to think that the state of friendship between entire Clans sometimes rested solely on his shoulders.
"I would not want to burden you with replenishing your own supply before you were planning to," he says, albeit a little stiltedly, with another shake of his head. Clearly, this young man valued routines.
