"I wouldn't bother you during class, Bayushi-sama," Yoshi assures her with an emphatic shake of his head, taking the paper carefully, almost reverantly. "Maybe... we'll even have one together?" He looked hopeful, but it was colored with doubt. She was a Third Year, after all. He also wondered if that meant that she'd be more his tutor than study partner, if all her classes were more advanced than his. Something other than his brain was whispering that there were definitely things she could teach him.
"You can call me too, if...," he trails off, unable to think of any reason that she might need his company. Still, the offer was made, so he takes out his own phone and dials her number so that she has his from the caller-id. It's an unimpressive little Rokia-brand that looks like it's years old, only known for their remarkable durability and little else. Quietly, he adds, "You... can also call me "Yoshi"... if you want."

"It is quite possible," Chiyo says with a nod. "The classes here are very quaint. The ratio between student to teacher here is fair, so often first, second, and third years find themselves in the same classroom." Which is to say, the classes are small and the teachers are many. It's a prestigious school after all. Not just anybody gets into this place. It does make classroom dynamics kind of strange sometimes. It's easy to forget that a fellow student may be a senior to you.
This isn't about some classrooms though. When he pulls out his phone, she eyes it with something akin to bemusement. Poor thing. How does one even use one of those things? They're so archaic!
"Yoshi it is, then." She notes as she enters his name onto her phone. It is not the most recent model, but a relatively new smartphone. "I hope you don't mind, I will probably call you at the end of your first day, just to make sure you're getting along well."

"I don't mind at all, Bayushi-sama!" he tells her without hesitation, smiling too, to hear her use his chosen name so readily. He wonders if it could always be this easy to make friends here at his new school, but something both generally pessimistic, as well as specifially enamour of her, tells him that Chiyo might be unique in this regard.

“I’m glad,” she says, offering him a smile as she finishes the process of entering his information in. “I would really like to be seeing you again, but in case we don’t end up in the same classes, we could always call one another. I’d like to get to know more about you.”
Because she must, and because she wanted to make sure she kept this duckling at her heel, she needed to keep him well fed, with the promise of breadcrumbs if he should continue to follow.
“I’m afraid I must be going however. Thank you immensely for sharing your time and space with me, Yoshi-san. I look forward to our next encounter.” But she isn’t making a show of any hurry to go, almost as if longing to stay.

"You've shared just as much with me," Yoshi replies appreciatively, though his eyes remind him that she's probably shared a little more. He doubted that his appearance was causing an experienced Third Year the same confused feelings that he had been having throughout lunch. Trying not to get too excited about the prospect, he adds, "I hope to get to know you better too, Bayushi-sama." He's in no hurry to leave himself, but he doesn't want to keep Chiyo since she'd said she had to go.
"I can take care of your tray along with mine," he offers as he stands, inadvertantly giving Chiyo a look at how well he managed to contain that excitement; not very, as it happened.

“How kind of you, Yoshi-san. Perhaps we can take our trays together,” she offers, gracefully back on her feet once more. Chiyo picks up her tray at both ends, looking to him expectantly.
You know, he is kind of cute in a nerdy sort of way. Honestly, he is. She wonders if he’ll still be thinking of her later. He better! She intends to call good and late, so she’s the last thing on his mind before he goes to bed. That’s how you get ‘em. You have them dream about you in their sleeping hours.

"Oh... okay," Yoshi says, disappointed that he's lost the chance to do her this favor but at least glad to remain in her company a little longer. They both stand there a bit before he registers her expectant look. Biting his lower lip nervously, he quietly asks, "Um... where do the trays go?"

Man, he’s barely keeping it together. He almost looks like—
Oh. Oh he’s ah...perky. Don’t laugh, girl. Keep your on strong. This ain’t the first time you’ve seen a pitched tent. Don’t draw attention to it.
She looked away immediately, coinciding with Yoshi’s question, she points towards the trash can and tray drop off area. “Just over there.” Chiyo began to lead the way, purposefully choosing to go the long way around. Not because of time...because there’s a lot more coverage. She’s doing the poor kid a favor this way. More folks on the shorter path.

Following behind Chiyo gave Yoshi a good view of the back of her, which took some effort not to stare at the entire trip. He wonders why they're taking the long way around but assumes it's so they can spend just that tiny bit more time together. It's not all that much though, as the trash and tray drop-off soon come into view.
"I'm... looking forward, to talking more and getting to know you better," Yoshi quietly tells her as he stows his tray and puts his water bottle in the recycling. "Carry the Fortunes, Bayushi-sama." He gives Chiyo a bow, followed by a soft smile, one quite content in knowing that even if they didn't see each other the next day, she had promised to call him at the end of it. He also nearly runs into the cafeteria door, due to looking back at his new friend more than in the direction he was walking. With a nervous laugh, he disappears through it, blushing fiercely, though at least his blood was up in his cheeks now rather than elsewhere.

He's a keeper. And if he strays, he probably won't wander too far. Chiyo tips her head back and wishes him well.
Now she just needs to remember to call him later.
