In a remote corner of the courtyard, a girl and a bike can barely be seen as the Jade Sun begins to descend. Miya Asurito is out with the most loyal of her friends, her bmx. Of course, the old scratched thing is considered a friend. It even has a name. Hero. Since there are no Miya heroes, the girl could, at least, keep one close.
Asurito is practising various tricks for quite some time and she becomes more and more cheeky by the minute. Out of the sudden a not so bright idea comes to her mind. She could definitely use the stairs of the main building for the trick she has in mind. It is fairly late for any random passerby to either notice her or interrupt her.
She carries her bike near the entrance and stares at the numerous stairs. It will be a glorious leap! Soon she is on the old bmx and starts hoping down some stairs. Then a leap to the elevated edge. It went pretty well. The bike starts rolling down and Asurito prepares for the final feat. She is going to fly!

Mako just wanted to leave school and get home to prepare for her party. She just wanted to walk peacefully, and have a good time alone, relaxing, enjoying the air, and thinking about the day. She didn't want this to happen. She didn't want to be standing in the path of a BMX bike that was flying downward at a speed that could only be compared to a rocket from her perspective. She didn't want to die. So instead, she dove from where she was standing, out of the path of the bike, and onto the ground.
Okay, perhaps she was being overdramatic, and the bike wasn't really going to hit her, but all she could do was watch from the ground as the trick got pulled off by the sports-nerd-Miya. And then just... kept staring. She hadn't seen much like it before. Ever.

The dynamic duo of Asurito and bike land successfully on earth. It was pure awesomeness for the herald, or it would have been if she hadn't noticed a tiny little girl getting scared and falling to the ground. Parents these days... They leave their young ones wandering alone this late in the afternoon...
Upon landfall, the Miya rushes to leave her bmx down and runs to the girl's side. Everything happened so fast, the other Imperial is laying on her belly, no face can be seen and Asurito's mind is still stuck to the trick she has just managed to pull. Add Mako's height into the equation and...
"Are you alright, little one?" She asks. "I didn't hurt you, did I?"

She fell on her face, she got dirt on her clothes, and now she was getting treated like she was a little kid. Mako had to hold in her anger as she looked up at the Miya, her sunglasses broken, "Only my pride." She said it with a pout, as she looked over the other girl, "I'm not that young, goodness." She hadn't had someone mistake her for a kid in some time - it was one of the reasons she was glad she developed breasts, unlike her friend Joo-Eun, "Why were you riding around so recklessly? You could have really hurt someone you know! Even with me avoiding it, I could have gotten a concussion, or twisted an ankle trying to move out of the way!" She protested and kept pouting. Totally not because she could never do cool bike tricks, or be impressive with things like that.

What a disgrace. The... Imperial, judging from the colors of her clothes, is right. She has been reckless. It is true that the Miya heralds sometimes have to speed up and they never get tickets for that, but... No! It is not the same and it is no excuse! She bows her head in apology and offers her hand to help the girl back to her feet. Regardless whether the offer will be accepted or not, she speaks again. "I am so sorry. Truly sorry." She can't avoid blushing a bit at this point. "I didn't expect anyone to be here at this hour. Do you think that you do have a concussion or a twisted ankle? Don't worry I'm not as reckless as I seem. Most of the times. I can get you to the infirmary. Miya Asurito, of the Heralds, by the way." She makes a proper bow and smiles a bit. "Always at your service for a safe transport." The shortish girl is definitely not a Miya, Asurito would know her. Definitely not a Seppun. She wouldn't whine like that. Otomo, it seems... Who knows? Perhaps, this will make her chill a bit. She doesn't seem to suffer from anything, except, perhaps, for a broken ego because of the fall.

Mako stared at the Miya, and then slowly shifted from looking mad and pouty to giving a small consolatory smile, especially as she was helped off the ground, "It's fine. This is the third almost concussion today, I think. Didn't hit my head, didn't twist my ankle, don't feel like I hit my knee hard enough to bruise the bone, pretty sure it's just dirt in my clothes. Which sucks, but why get mad about it." She gave a bigger smile after speaking, eyes sparkling, "It was really cool, before I realized you were going to run me over. So maybe next time just avoid running people over, and it'll be even cooler." She laughed softly, then offered out a hand... which she proceeded to use to wipe dirt off her clothes, after remembering that she wasn't dealing with a Unicorn, "Otomo Mako." She gave a small bow of just enough to be respectful. "First year student at Rokugan High. It is always truly lovely to meet one of the Miya."

"The third time you hit you head? Oh my kami, Otomo san! What are you? A professional boxer or a mini sumai wrestler?" She is clearly joking, but since she has no idea how the other girl would receive the tease she bows once again and tries to act more properly. "I am a third year and I would like to officially welcome you in this school. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, as well."
What else? What else? Aha!
"Your praise honors me deeply and from now on I will always keep your advise in mind. If you ever find yourself in need of a trustworthy herald, please do not hesitate to call for me." She shrugs in the end. "And all that jazz... you know how it goes..." She looks at the girl. Perfect size to use for training. "I've finished up here. Do you want me to show you around school? The spots that no one else will?"

The amount of... forced formality seriously boggled the young Otomo's mind, as she stared at the older Miya in disbelief, as if soon enough she would poof and reveal she as a trickster spirit struggling very hard to stay in character. But it didn't happen, so she simply responded to the jokes, and entirely ignored the forced formalities, "Goodness no. Could you imagine me, all done up in only a mawashi? I would look more out of place than a crab in the middle of a crane dinner party." She laughed at the thought of being a sumai wrestler, it was certainly an amusing contrast to whom she really was, "I would love to be given a tour, senpai." She giggled happily before continuing on, "Though you needn't call me so formally." San wasn't that formal, but this also served as a good way for the girl to test the waters with how the Miya would respond if she was more casual.

"Yes, not so formal is better." She agrees with a broad smile and walks away to take her bike. "You can call me Asurito, little one." She gets on her bike and approaches again. "Hop on!" She says and points to the pegs. "Can I call you little one? Or little wrestler? Or do I have to be a bit more formal and go with little Otomo?" It is clear that she is just teasing her.

"Ugh, please, no littles. One of the people I used to flirt with always used to call me little Mako, and it's so tiresome after awhile. Yes, I understand, big, strong, and gonna train to be an Shiotome, but it just felt belittling after awhile." She rolled her eyes, as she relayed the past experience freely to Asurito, "I'd be happy if you'd just call me Mako, especially if we're alone, Asurito." No honorifics, the best and most casual way, as she moved to... get onto the bike with the Miya, holding her tight, "Please just don't let me fall." She hadn't been on a bike in years...
