The sun is shining. There's a nice breeze out. And Utaku Hisui finds this morning that she has an extra spring in her step. Things went as well as she could have hoped for the day before. She ran into a few old friends, and perhaps had a chance to connect with someone who could have been a friend from years before but never had the opportunity to speak to. And her children sent word of their own successful attempts to integrate into their respective schools. Sure, she was nervous. She'd been a teacher at Shiro Utaku Shojo for some time now, but this was Rokugan High School. It was an entirely different level, in terms of educational institutions. Things were very different, and she couldn't help but concern herself with that. Still, she'd weathered through worse. Whatever mistakes she made or miscalculations that marred her first day here, she would weather through them. It was, in many ways, all she ever seemed to do in life; weather through her blunders. This was a time of change, Akiha told her over the phone. Her daughter was right, of course. In many ways, she was reinvented the first time she came here. For ill more than for good. Perhaps that same magic could reinvent her again, but with less pain. Finding herself in the courtyard, taking a morning stroll to become familiar with the ground again, she finds the memories bittersweet. They stir in her mind, but she makes an effort to reject them. Instead, she thinks of an old song, and it doesn't take long for her to begin singing out loud. Let’s start and begin
a single endless road that continues for ever.
Let’s run through
and embrace this deep and unknown hope!
No matter where we go,
happiness and sadness will sure follow.
It may be painful, but we must continue forward
because waiting for us is our precious dream!
Start My Life Song
with my singing voice
it’ll resound everywhere.
Feel, if you continue to feel
with your favorite Melody it’s fine,
that is called “your heart”.
Stay My Love Song
To the people calling us,
we’ll give you our love!
Shine and shine brightly,
’cause you know, that is happiness!
Today our future is born!

Fuyuko is walking back from her early morning prayer and practice. Her expression somber and wearing a white dress with her eye-patch on when she hears the singing, stopping a moment. She listens to the song about starting over and a sad smile crosses her face, walking towards the source. There was something about the song that was hopeful in spite of all the regret she brought here, that reminded her why she came back.

Always one to appreciate a good song, Tamori Yoshi is also drawn to the sound of singing from the courtyard as he makes his way across campus in the early hours of the mroning. Not having stayed up partying the night before, he was up early and managed to wash, dress, and be out the door in time to be at this place at this time, well before classes were due to start. He notices that he's not the only one, either, as a brightly clothed Crane has begun making her way toward her fellow teacher. In awe of someone just breaking into song somewhere that anyone might stumble upon them, and somewhat in fear of a pair of superiors, one with an eyepatch no less, he keeps a respectful distance, watching and listening as the attractive Unicorn woman performs for an audience consisting of just him and the other woman... for now.

The song comes to a close, hands coming to a rest after making the motions required of a professional performance, and the sensei opens her eyes. She smiles softly first, and then sees she has an audience.
Fortunes help me, she's stunning in the sunlight.
She shakes herself out of her mental reverie. Reassured that the Crane lady would not reciprocate any interest of that nature. Even if Crane women did do that sort of thing, this one seemed unlikely to do so.
Unsurprisingly, she doesn't quite notice the Dragon nearby. Or rather she does, but assumes he's just heading to class and not watching.
"Ah, Doji-san. Good morning to you."

Fuyuko watches before giving a small bow of thanks, fan shooting out of her belt with the speed of a sword as it opens and she holds it in front of her face. "Utaki-san. This one had missed the sound of music in the morning. Your singing is quite pleasing."

It is now the Unicorn's turn to blush. She's not as quick to cover her reaction with a fan as Fuyuko, however. A sharp eye would have caught that easily. Once that fades, she lowers the fan.
"Thank you. It's been a boon companion for many years and I'm happy to have others appreciate it," she says. "Have you had rice today?"

As the one teacher sang, Mako was attracted to the song as if sung by a siren, luring her to her doom. She arrived in time to look over the two cute women talking with each other, but her eyes were not on Fuyuko at all, in fact. No, she had only eyes for the Unicorn woman, and her bag was dropped to the ground before the little pink woman took off like a rocket, as quickly as she could a blur in her uniform as she jumped at the larger unicorn woman, and hung from her neck - or knocked her over, shouting "Ssssssssiiiiuuuuuuu-ooooooneeeeechaaaaaaaaannnnn~!!!!!" as she collided with the woman. She held on for dear life, refusing to let go of the 'sister' after finding her, "Oh my goooodneesssss!!!!!!!! It's beeen so looooooooong!!!!!!!!!!!!! She was even louder and more excited than usual, as she held the dear person. Only after a few moments did she see Fuyuko, "Oh, and hiya Yuko." Wait, didn't she promise to be more formal infront of the other teachers? But there weren't any other teachers clearly, just Fuyuko and Hisui, who was not a teacher, but an older sister, duh. She was still holding onto Hisui in hugs of much love and affection, as she talked to Fuyuko.

The words register. Years of military life don't go away that quickly. Her first impulse is to think Yokohime found her again. Then the second half hits, and her eyes go wide before Fuyuko can possibly reply to the question. She blinks. Her mouth goes open, as if to say something to the Doji before it all goes by in a cute little pink blur. But alas, our valiant Unicorn is too late. She realizes this, perhaps, and moves on to Plan B.
She begins to turn. She makes sure her injured side faces away from the impact she knows is coming.
And then it hits, and it's all she can do to stay on her feet and not be knocked off-balance by her new, pink Otomo-shaped necklace.
She considers, for a moment, prying Mako off her. Maintain some semblance of professionalism. She also realizes that this is a futile effort, based on past experience. So she resigns herself to her new accessory.
"Otomo-chan! I had no idea you were here!" she says, smiling brightly. "Also, please let go. I don't want Doji-sens-"
Yuko?
"Doji-san, Otomo-chan, do you know each other?" she asks. When did that happen?
For the briefest of moments, a flicker of horror passes through her eyes. Fortunes above, don't let her think I seduced a girl less than half my age!

Otomo-chan? Mako pouted as she looked back at Hisui's face, "Why aren't you calling me Mako?" Her lips wobbled a little, as she looked like she had been hit with the saddest of news, "I thought we'd agreed..."

"Because I am a sensei. I told you before, I shouldn't be too familiar with my students," she answers.
Pretty little Mako. If you were maybe a decade older. But you're not. Besides, you're a little too energetic for me anyway. Hmm. Maybe I should introduce you to that nice Badger girl I met yesterday. What was her name? Ah, yes, Ichiro Priya.
If I ever see her again, I should make mention of Mako.
By way of apology, she ruffles Mako's pink hair a little. An affectionate, very sisterly gesture.
