Utaku Hitomi sighed as she led Mizuki into the stables Gently petting her best friend. Who for her part was whining the whole way into the stables. "I know Mizuki it isn't going to be fun. I know how much you hate being stabled and yes I know how much you don't like leaving me unattended but I promise it's the school nothing bad is going to happen. I'll be safe." Mizuki whines again and becomes more obstinate. "Mizuki! It's not my rules. The school said you had to be stabled while I'm at class. At least this way if anything happens you won't be to far away from me. Now come on! Stop being stubborn I'm going to be late to my first class."

"It's tough, ne?" A deep, somewhat gruff voice calls out to Hitomi from a few yards down the stable. There stands Akodo Seijuro, who has just clicked the lock to his own horse's stall. His golden eyes peer at the girl for a moment, before return to pay his horse more attention. He gives him a few pets, which earns Seijuro a whinny in response.
"Utaku steeds can be restless and stubborn, especially away from their companions. Need help? I have some experience," the Lion offers, his hand leaving his own horse and falling to his side.

Utaku Hitomi jumps slightly before turning to face Akodo Seijuro. She bows to her fellow student. "Honestly I'm usually quite good with Mizuki. I don't know why she's being so stubborn." She looks away blushing slightly. "Look at me an Utaku battle maiden struggling to get her steed into a stable..."

"I don't think I've met an Utaku steed who wasn't stubborn their first few days here. Their blood is strong, and they know it. They are proud beasts," Seijuro replies somewhat reverently, taking a few steps forward and dusting his hands off.
"And Mizuki is not at her home. Here, let me hold the gate for you." The Akodo opens a pen, and holds it for the young Battle Maiden, letting her focus on guiding in her horse more easily into the stable.

Utaku Hitomi looks up at the boy and nods her head. "I suppose that's true... Mizuki and I have never been this far from our home." With the gate now open Utaku Hitomi manages to get Mizuki better under control. Though the Utaku Warhorse is still being quite stubborn. "If I may ask... Why are you helping me so? Surely you wouldn't want to risk being late to any classes would you?"

Seijuro gives Hitomi a sideways glance, almost like a confused dog, before he turns towards Mizuki with a small smile.
"A samurai has compassion. He helps his fellow men at every opportunity. If an opportunity does not arise, he goes out of his way to find one. This is the way my Ancestors demand I live, Utaku-san. That," a pause, "and your horse Mizuki reminds me of my mother's own horse. His name is Bandit..."
He seems lost in his thoughts for a moment, before a small shake of the head breaks him from his revelry. "Well, it's kinda weird that we know each other's horses' name but not each others'. I'm Akodo Seijuro, by the way."

Finally getting Mizuki into one of the pens. She sighs giving the horse a gentle pat on the side. Even though Mizuki was quite restless. "There there it'll be okay Mizuki." She sighs and turns back to Akodo Seijuro. She gives the boy a bow. "Akodo-San it is a pleasure to meet you I am Utaku Hitomi." She looks down and nods her head. "It's true compassion is a tenet of Bushido." She rubs the back of her head looking embarrassed. "I feel as though I should have known that." She offers him a sheepish smile.

"It's fine, Utaku Hitomi-san. It was not a bad question to ask; many would."
Seijuro waves his hand in an attempt to clear any sheepishness from her. "Bunsho was like that a bit too, though he's no Utaku Steed. It makes our morning rides that much more enjoyable. Nothing like a cool spring wind in your hair, ne?" He pauses for a moment, wondering if he's rambling. "I take it you're new here, Utaku-san?"

Utaku Hitomi nods her head quickly. "You are quite correct Akodo-San. Nothing brings me more joy then a good with Mizuki." She smiles warmly back at Mizuki and then turns to Akodo Seijuro. "What kind of horse is Bunsho if you don't mind me asking? It is also true that I am new to these parts..."

Seijuro gives a small chuckle and shakes his head.
"Nothing too special by Utaku standards, just your run of the mill black pony. But he is my companion. You wanna meet him before class?" the Akodo asks, nodding his head in the direction from whence he came. "Don't worry about being new. Lots of people are. You'll get used to the city before long. Took me a while too."
