Umeko took a few more moment to stare at the students, catching the eyes of each before nodding. "Excellent. As homework you will be researching the last 5 punishments that have been handed out to samurai for misuse and mispractice of medicine. I expect this by next class."
She turned, walking to the back of her desk and pulling out a box. "Now, moving to the subject you all came to learn." From the box she pulled out various dried plants in small bags, vials, and salves. "Herbal medicine is by no means a miracle cure. Very rarelly would one be more efficient then calling the help of the kami. They are, however, very good in some situations."
The botanist glanced up, making sure that those that were taking notes had time to jolt down her words before she continued. "Medicinal herbs usually come in three ways: Raw, solid or liquid." She pointed at a bag of dried leaves, a small jar of salve and what looked like a vial of some sort of oil.
"Raw, obviously, means mostly unchanged. A plant that has medicinal properties as harvested. Could anyone name me such a plant?"
((Students with 1 skill in medicine can get the most common answer (aloe) for free. Anyone else can roll intelligence/medicine TN 10. Skill 2 or one raise can give you Chamomille or licorice roots. If you want to roll and raise twice for an other answer feel free to))
