"You know..." he offers as he reaches out to take Rey's hands into his own this time, giving them a light squeeze. "Hikari-chan always thought we'd end up together somehow. But I guess with your career and being a sensei, plus whatever may or may not happen between Hoshiko-chan and I..."
Noboru shrugged a little, but smiled to his friend.

The woman opens her eyes as soon as Noboru reaches for her hands and looks at him. A faint blush forms on both her cheeks. There are quite a few things that she would say if all the things he mentioned were different, but they are not. Silence falls for a few seconds, before the Mirumoto frees her hands, lowers her eyes and goes for the menu. "I was thinking about ribs. Have you decided what will you order?"

"Just the mountain tuna steak," Noboru offered as she pulls her hands away, nodding to himself. He probably said more than he should have; even just bringing it up was probably too much. And so he did what he always did: he retreated into his shyness and awkwardness and let the moment just sit there as it was while he thought, maybe a bit too hard, about his mistake.
"Unless you have a recommendation?"

The Mirumoto doesn't speak for quite a few seconds.
"It's not an easy choice to make." She says after a while. "I mean, yes. Ribs sound fine. I know them, I love them, they feel comfy and they are super tasty. It would make sense to go for them. On the other hand they have certain disadvantages that cannot be overseen. I mean... Who would go for the ribs if they knew that their grease can put an end to their career. Or if the ribs have already been ordered by another customer who came into the restaurant earlier."
Then she looks at the young man across her. "I'd suggest a steak."

Noboru blinked at Rey's statement, then ponders...
"I'll have the ribs, then. And a glass of water."

Rey looks back at him with a 'Wut?' expression on her face. Then she pouts and crosses her arms in front of her chest. "Fine! A steak and a soda for me."
She can't believe how pissed she is at him right now. She tried to make a point and was willing not to eat the ribs she has been dreaming since morning and he will soon be eating them right in front of her face.

Noboru smirked a little, "I know what you're telling me, Rey-chan. It's like cheesecake. You know you shouldn't have it, but you take that first bite and savor every moment of it ignoring the consequences that one slice can have on you. Especially when you have something equally delicious and better for you sitting right in front of you."
His gaze turned a little melancholy as he thought of something, "But then you remember it... and remember why you chose it in the first place... but by then it's too late."

She nods in agreement and grins. "Double meanings aside, can I have my ribs now? And perhaps go for some cheesecake later?" The woman chuckles and waves her hand. "You know what? It is high time to move on from discussions about food. Each one can have whatever they want. Period. That's how life is."
"Do tell me, did you enjoy club day? Even a tiny bit?" She tries to change the conversation.

"Well, I joined the choir club even though you've heard me sing..." came a sheepish grin from the third-year student as he looks to Rey. He doesn't bring up kendo yet and she already knows about getting kicked out of iaido. "And don't worry, I plan on taking singing lessons."
"How was your club day so far?"

"It was good. I had to wake up really early and for no good reason as it turned out, but I had a very tasty breakfast prepared by the cooking sensei himself. Weird man thatShosuro Saito. Kinda... creepy? I don't know." She shifts a bit uncomfortably on her seat.
"Anyways. There was no orchestra club as I initially believed, so I will only be mentoring my sweeties at the science club."
