She nods in agreement.
"Quoting the Tao, I presume? Now that, I didn't expect."

"I know, like two things that the little teacher said" she admits guiltily "Every moment, we die and are reborn, and Life is suffering, with happiness designed only to show you more suffering"

"I'm not one to judge. I didn't study the Tao extensively. My family has always been devoted to the Lords of Death," she says, adjusting her position once again so she could lean forward with a little more comfort. "And their teachings, as taught to me by my father's side of the family, have always guided me."

"Fuyuko-sensei guided me in a prayer to them yesterday" she admits "She wanted to learn more of them, given your devotion. We know of them in the Ivory Kingdoms too, my mother was a devotee I think, but she kept to her self in matters of faith"

Hisui nods.
"I am having my son send a basic reference text over, along with his personal notes. It should prove useful studying material if she wants to learn," she says. Her smile is bright at the discovery that Fuyuko had offered a prayer to her patrons. Then, a memory stirs in her mind. "Tell me, do you meditate?"

"Often" she nods "It is... a challenge, and does not put me totally at peace, but it is a skill I am trying to learn and utilize"
She thinks a moment and adds
"I also enjoy the tea ceremony. I signed up for the Tea Club yesterday"

"I imagine the turmoil of your appetites can make it a challenge, yes. The serenity of a proper tea ceremony can help, but only so much," she admits. "Have you considered aiming your meditation? To have something to meditate on rather than a complete emptying of your mind?"
"I have not tried this myself, given my curse, but I am told it can be effective."

"Your curse Hisui-sensei?" she asks "I meditate, most often on the sword, the perfect strike"

"My soul owes a debt to Emma-O, and when I am idle or asleep, he collects on his debt," she says, matter of fact and plain. If Fuyuko trusted this girl, Hisui would too. "It's why I tend to talk too much, or sing when there's nothing else to do. Before the war, I would train until I was too exhausted. Because every time I closed my eyes, it could have been my last."
"As for meditation, some monks I've met in my travels use couplets of poetry laced with hidden meaning. They meditate upon them to find insight, pieces of wisdom to light their paths."

"You seem to have met many monks" she states "A lot of them with wisdom. It surprises me that you cannot talk the tao around me"
