Tsuki giggled at Isao's compliment, a hand coming up to cover he mouth. "Well, it is telling me that they very much find me alluring, for whatever reason. They even told me I might be questioned about it while at lunch with you."

He grinned.

"Apologies, Isao-san, I didn't mean to steal your thunder," She said with a tiny laugh, "But it is kind of you to go and try and help him out with such matters. Is there perhaps a way I could make it up to you?" Tsuki plucked up her tea and sipped at it gingerly.

"You could at least tell me if the boy needs help at all," he remarked with a playful smile. "So? Does he? Or are your romantic interests otherwise elsewhere?"
He grin broadened if that were at all possible.

She shook her head at at the grinning Crane. "He is very sweet, but a bit timid in things. His words trail too, as if he often ends up spending time trying to think of the next one to come. I can tell he puts a lot of thought into what he does. It's endearing in a way. I like him, but I don't know how far that really extends."
She tapped the chopsticks against one another. "We've only spoken at the temples for the last six days. That's not a lot of time to learn about someone. What does he do when we don't speak? Who does he like to spend time with? Am I the only one he seems affectionate for? Those kind of things linger, Isao-san. It's complicated, to say the least."

"That's fair," he agreed. "I've gotten the impression he is young, naive, timid, and altogether inexperienced. These are not bad things, mind you... but a man can lead a horse to water but he can't make him drink.
"That being said, walking away from lunch today, would it be safe to say you're willing to give him consideration if he was likewise inclined to give you the same time, honor, and respect a lovely girl such as you deserves...? Or should I simply see your words as saying: he's cute, but I'm not quite interested at this time?"

"I don't know," Tsuki answered truthfully, "I likely should not give any sense of commitment to a relationship with someone since my future is not fully my own. Even if I did, I am uncertain how my parents would take to him."
She sighed and slumped slightly in her seat. "I am uncertain and so I can't give a satisfying answer. It is both unfair to him and cruel to drag it along, but he seems so eager to jump on the possibility that it could happen that I dare not turn him away forcefully. I honestly don't know what to do."

He shrugged. Between the two of them, Isao was more care free and non-traditional. He smiled at her but busied himself with slurping up his noodles so he had time to think. After he had wiped his mouth he wagged his finger at her.
"Do what is best for your heart I say," he resolved himself to say. "If your heart is not in it, don't pursue it. If there is a kindling of interest, then stoke those coals until there is a flame and see if you like how warm and bright and colorful that fire is to your eyes. Benten has a way with these things... don't overthink it. Enjoy yourself while you can."

Tsuki laughed at that. "Far easier said than done, Isao-san. Perhaps I shall try to simply enjoy it, as you said. I just hope that if there is no flame in those coals, as you say, he will not be hurt by that outcome. I don't think he needs that anymore."
She bothered not to say that the reality was he might have to deal with the possibility. There was no reason too and she preferred not to spoil the conversation. So she dug back into her own noodles, giving Isao a chance to respond with whatever thought he might have. He almost always had one.
