Sakura looks at the Lion for several quiet seconds, "Akodo-san, from what you described, your 'betrayal' was born less from greed and more the fact that, despite how much your mother desired something, you chose to do the right thing. To live as you described would have brought your mother a false happiness, one built on a lie, and would ultimately result in great waste of potential. She may hurt in the short term, but in the long run, she should see the man you will become as something to draw contentment from."

"I am no great man. If I will become one still remains to be seen."
He looks over to Sakura with a small smile. "We are not our parents. I think you don't need me to tell you that, however." He looks back to the shrine to the Fortune of Forgiveness before him. "I imagine this is one of the least prayed to Fortunes here."

You'd be surprised, comes an almost melancholic reply from the spirit as she looks to the shrine. Maybe not when I was a student. At least not until I had to pretend I was dead.
She looks away a moment, eyes closed as she would sigh if she were capable of such. That last year I spent here, after my Lord 'executed' me, I prayed at this shrine every day that your mothers would forgive me for lying to them. That I couldn't let them know I was alive, watching them. Watching out for them. I think your mother would have sunk deeper into depression had I not been there for her. I know Chiaki-chan's anger and bitterness began about that time, combined with that fool Sansho cheating on her.

And for once, Sakura's revelations cause the Mirumoto's brain to skip the thought filter and go directly to speaking.
"Wait. What do you mean by depression?"

Seijuro gives Sakura a curious glance, turning to face her once more.
"Everything alright, Mirumoto-san?" The Akodo could have sworn he heard her say something about depression.

"Ah. Um...yes. I'm fine. I apologize for my outburst."

"It's fine, no need to apologize. Just wanted to make sure you were alright," he replies with some concern, finishing zipping up his bag now that his prayers were complete. Maybe a change of subject would do them both some good.
"Quite a match we had a few days ago, huh? In the dojo, I mean. You don't fight in the same style as your mother. I've never seen it before."

"I...do not follow in my mother's footsteps, as the path she follows is hers. Mine was elsewhere, studying as much with the Togashi as the Mirumoto," Sakura replies.

"So you are... monk trained? You must keep your tattoos hidden then!" Seijuro replies with a small smile. He had never met a Togashi monk before, and had heard they could be eccentric. Sakura seemed quite cool and collected, though.

"I have studied alongside them, not taken the vows or received the tattoos. I may end up following that path in time, but for now, I follow the path of a warrior and student of the Tao," Sakura replies.
