The Temple to Goemon in Toshi Ranbo was neither large nor small, and hardly as ostentatious as some of the other shrines and places of worship within the Temple District. There were no great set of stairs that led up to its main area - only a lone red tori arch that gave way to a path to the main temple. The path was flanked by marble statues carved in the likeness of a wyrm of thunder. Those who were familiar with Theology would know that Goemon and the Thunder Dragon were linked - the Order of Heroes followed both entities.
As the group approached the main shrine, they would find the complex surprisingly empty. The only person outside was a monk that appeared to be in her late 40s. She was busy sweeping the wooden porch of the main shrine. When she saw their approach, she offered a bow, before reclining slightly on the broom.
"Konnichi-wa, samurai-samas. This one is Kinuyo. How may I be of service?" She gives Nadeshiko a curious look - probably because of her costume.

Hisui bows respectfully.
"Good day, Kinuyo-sama," she greets with a friendly smile. "My name is Utaku Hisui, and these young students are Ichiro Priya-san, Kuni Hinata-san, and Horiuchi Nadeshiko-san. We are from Rokugan High."
"We were hoping for your permission to see the shrine where the statue to the Fortune of Heroes is kept, so our shugenja may importune the kami?" she asks, her tone polite, deferential, but also insistent. "We'd also like to ask a few questions, if that's alright?"
"We believe there has been an omen regarding the Fortune's current situation."

"You would not be the first to ask, Utaku-sama," Kinuyo responds with a sigh, continuing her honest work. After all, the floors weren't going to clean themselves.
"I'm the only monk here at the moment. All of the others are traveling Rokugan in light of recent events. Visiting the other temples to Goemon-kami to gather information about what may be happening. Feel free to take a look at the statue and the shrine, but the statue is in pieces. I'll try to answer any of your questions to the best of my ability."

Hinata frowned. The poor woman must be exhausted by this point.
"My apologies, things cannot have been easy for you these past few days."

Nadeshiko had shed her costume before entering the shrine as referenced in a previous post. Instead she was simply wearing the coloured newsboy cap along with her friends.
As they approached the shrine she offered the lone monk a proper bow of respect before straightening.
"After we are done our investigation Kinuyo-sama, I would be happy to stay behind for a while and assist you in cleaning. If you wish for assistance that is."

"I would never deny someone the opportunity to enjoy the blessings of Hotei-kami. And there is no need to apologize, things have not been easy but life is never so easy. This is simply another divot in the road we are tasked to fill."

She nods.
"I imagine, then, that the circumstances were the same for all the statues? Broken into four under impossible circumstances?" she asks, confirming things just in case. "Did anyone witness it happening?"

"Indeed. The head of our order was meditating beneath the statue when it happened. He says that there was no sound, he sensed no movements. He merely opened his eyes and the statue was broken into four pieces."
Kinuyo shakes her head. "He was the only one in the temple at the time. The rest of us were doing our daily study of the Tao when it happened."

She nods. "Would you mind if we looked around? Asked questions of the kami? By any chance, did previous investigation teams say anything that may be relevant?"
She smiles.
"I apologize if this has all happened before. You must be quite tired of it. I could ask that no further inquiries from the school disturb the temple, if you like?"

"We had a jade magistrate visit, but he came to the same conclusion we did. That this is some kind of omen. If things were worse off, I don't think anyone would be allowed here for a good while," Kinuyo did her best to explain.
"I don't mind. If nothing else, we actually have been getting a decent number of visitors as of late. Feel free to look around and ask any questions to the kami you would like."
