That gets Akane pausing, looking at Hisui thoughtfully, "Same for you though. I keep thinking Hisi-chan should be happier."

"Well, let's hope Seppun-san can change things around for her," she says. And then Akane shifts the topic onto her, and Hisui blinks. "Why do you say that? I don't feel unhappy."

Akane practically bounced in her walking backwards to emphasise her words, gesturing broadly with her hands.

She smiles. Akane always had such energy, such life. She almost wishes she could borrow some of that.
"She's not very comfortable with public displays, so I try to look like I'm not about to just grab her, carry her in my arms, and spend the next hour staring at her. Hearing her coo and just letting her react to every little thing I do. Forget about the world for a while."
She swoons at the idea, until Akane's specific wording kicks on. It brings her back to earth and almost makes her trip on flat walkway.
"Wait, what do you mean by even if it's not you?"

"I would love to be the person Hisi-chan loves, duh. Cause you're awesome. But so is Fuyuko-sama. So I shall leave it up to her."
Akane gives a definitive nod before turning back to watch where she's going, her dancer's training showing in her spin.

Hisui's mind kind of just stops. Years. Years she'd known Akane. She'd always admired that energy, that strength. Perhaps even envied it, as she envied how connected Akane and Aiko were. Still are. But they were never more than friends. Good one, close ones.
She just looks at Akane, dumbfounded. Stunned. But she works up the will to speak. Eventually.
"I don't…" She pauses. "I'm sor-"
She has no place apologizing for someone else's feelings. So instead, she lets a tight hug speak in her place. Akane would always be important to her. But not the kind of important Fuyuko was.

Akane stops and pats one of Hisui's hands, reveling in the hug a bit but offering a warm unseen smile, "I'm surprised you never knew; You became a very special person to me, Utaku Hisui. Perhaps it's because I don't ask anything of those who take my heart other than to be happy. So that's why I said what I did. If I just can't see it, then hearing you say you are is more than enough for me."

She wants to say maybe it could have worked if she'd known before. If she was younger and more open to trying things the way Akane did. But she wasn't anymore. And she stops herself before she says anything, avoiding the mistake she made with Mako.
After lingering too long, she lets go.
"If I have ever hurt you by not knowing, I'm sorry. And thank you. For telling me. For loving a fool who doesn't feel the same for a lively, wonderful woman." She says. "But I want you to know that I am happy with her. Happier than I've ever been. I've just had years of practice not showing it. But for you, I'll try harder."
