Hinata nodded.
"I see. That makes more sense. Who are the heroes of Shourido, then?"

Eito winces slightly. "Still being identified. We are having a major part of an image problem with Spider heroes in the first place and few heroes outside the spider want to be identified as ours. Doji Saori is one for sure. I am sure there are others they are just keeping quiet. We...could use more heroes to be honest." he says worriedly.
"So, where were we. Lets do one of the hard virtues. The real hard one. My favorite. Control. One must strive to control all situations they are in."

So, Shourido had a problem with heroes; one that worried Eito a great deal, from the sound of it. Hinata made note of that, but filed it away for later conversation. No need to upset the man by pressing him now.
"Mm, that is a difficult one. Every situation? Even those involving a clear superior?"

Eito nods. "Especially. Control is...complicated though. For instance, you are trying to keep control in this conversation. Also let us say....there was an enemy of yours. An Otomo for pure hypothetical reasons, if we were to throw out a random family. And they were your superior. You still need to control the situation. Make sure things go as you wish them, even if they have the power, you need to make use of what you have to force them to use it in the way you wish. This also works for helping people I find. Guiding them. And for the self most of all. Controlling the self is how a practitioner of Shourido distinguishes what they can do, and what they should do."

Hinata nodded.
"I can understand that, yes. Controlling situations so they go your way."
Hinata clucked her tongue.
"I have been doing a lot of that lately...hm, food for thought, I suppose."
She looked back at Eito.
"Though would Control really be distinguishing what you can and should do? Would it not be Knowledge and Insight that determine your understanding of what you can do, and Control that dictates what you should?"

Eito nods. "You have been indeed. Again, it words quite well at being insidious." he says before he hears the second part. "Yes! Knowledge and Insight create the path. Control makes one walk it. For example, you have a slight knowledge of Shourido now. And you have mentioned financial issues before. In my purse right now, I have enough Koku to feed a family for a decade. You are stronger then me and could likely take it from me if you so desires. What do the tenants of Shourido I have explained already say about the situation and your course of action. It's a more advanced question but a good one to gauge understanding of how it works as a moral system."

Hinata thought on it for a moment.
"Well, the most obvious answer is overpower you and take it. However, that is not the good answer. Not only would that be the most risky option, but doing that would doubtless make me more enemies than any amount of koku is worth, as well as destroy my reputation. This is all on top of the fact that it would go against who I am as a person. No, the good answer would be to befriend you. After all, I know you have money, so that means you also have a degree of power. Having a powerful ally allows me an additional resource that I can utilize to control future situations."

Eito chuckles. "Well not just the good. But also one of the right. Without the moral requirement of honor, you were able to find a reason to choose good over evil using only the pragmatism of Shourido and the Compassion of Shourido. This is why I say this path can stand on it's own. If in the hands of a good person. In the hands of an evil person it will lead to ruin, both of society and of the person using it."

"Mm. Just like any tool."

Eito nods. "Now of course, also important are Strength and Will. Strength is power hands down. The ability to do things to act. Some is physical but other forms are appreciated. Cultivating strength is important because without it well, what can you do? And will is the desire to do things. The driving force to see it through. In my personal opinion, Will is Love. But others see Will as Ambition or Selfishness or even Honor for those who go hybrid."
