His smile is a tad sheepish "well it sounds as if I was more a hindrance than anything else. So how did you and Doji-sensei know each other from before?" he was enjoying learning about this woman she had a colorful past that much was certain.

She gives the Lion a cryptic smile, the meaning behind it and her words hidden. Though she thinks one of her Enigmas students might be able to puzzle it out. "As for how we met before that?"
"That was 23 years ago, give or take. I was a first year and she was a second year," she answers. "Truth be told, we barely knew each other existed. We had multiple friends in common, we both frequented the dojo and the temple. But we simply never met each other, except for that one day in the infirmary. If not for my being there looking for cold medication and her being brought in due to a head injury, we'd never have actually met face to face."

"wow sounds like the type of story one would find in a romance play or something. classmates bump into each other but never talk again until years later and are brought back together and fall in love. That is some crazy stuff" he says with a chuckle shaking his head.

"That's...actually pretty much how it played out," she says, joining in the chuckle. "Or it's one you'd find in a manga. With maybe chapters for flashbacks on how we came so close to actually meeting."
"Your turn, then. How did you meet Uetani-san?"

"Ah well I honestly just lucked into it. One day I was walking into the temple just to check it out cause I had never been there before and Uetani-chan was there and invited me to partake in the tea ceremony. She was very good and friendly. We chatted for a while and she gave me her number. I texted her a day later and we met up again and did the same, tea ceremony and talking" Ichiro notes in his head that they had done much more than talk on that second meeting but this was the kind of thing that you did not mention when first meeting your girlfriend's mother.
"From then I invited her to lunch and took her out properly and we sparred and shared laughs and love" the smile on his face was contemplating "it is strange isn't it?" his question dangled for a moment "We do one thing, one small change and it ends up being the best day of your life. Because it's the day you made a decision that lead you to someone truly special."

She nods.
"You're not in my Enigmas class, but we talked about the sort of thing you're describing," she says, recalling the discussion that one day. "But in any case, it sounds like you two met and clicked. Do the kids these days still say that? Anyway, you clicked, from what it sounds to me. Even carried out the traditional bushi courtship ritual of sparring."

"Huh i guess we did, didnt mean to or anything. Sparring is just one of the ways I get to know people the best." He scratched his chin for a second "if I'm free I should go to an enigmas class, sounds interesting."

"She showed up for it once. I think it confused her a little bit. You're free to join to see if it appeals to you," the Unicorn says. She knew the subject matter wasn't typical for most samurai, and understood if some students chose to drop it. "Well, however it is you two came together, it seems you have become rather attached. Take good care of her and you won't have to worry about anything, I think. Other than doubling your budget for meals."

That last illicited a hearty laugh from the lion. "I know right!? For such a slight thing you would never expect her to be able to put food away so quickly I swear she eats more than me and I'm nearly double her weight! One thing is certain our household would have a very high food budget." He said while chuckling.

She laughs along. Well aware of the kind of appetite Uetani has, she thinks the Akodo has the right idea about finding humor in it. "Yes. I can imagine your food expenses will be very high. Oh Fortunes, imagine how high it will get if she's pregnant! Still, a good meal is a treasure to be savored and no doubt you'll find many with her."
Idly, she wonders if Fuyuko has a similar issue but merely keeps it better contained. It was a question to ask in private.
