Mako sat in one Utaku Hisui 's room, fragrant smells of a unicorn dinner around her, as she waited. She didn't know what inspired her to have this private dinner as a surprise with Hisui - but she wanted to have it. To thank Hisui for everything, and to show the woman how important she was to her. More than anything, she wanted to try and make sure that the woman didn't leave her life, or think she wasn't necessary. While Mako knew they would never be 'together', she wanted to still have that closeness - and losing one person who she had given her heart to was enough to inspire her, as she moved from her funk to wanting to spend more time with some of those important people. And so she sat there, waiting for Hisui to return, with two large pieces of steak, placed under small platters. And she just looked happy enough to wait, in the little casual outfit she was wearing - a simple tank top and shorts. Not to draw any attention, but just because it was comfortable.

Hisui, having returned from activities she engaged in after a lunch date with Fuyuko, does notice the smell of something delicious even outside the corridor. The closer she got to her door, the stronger it smelled. She paused, wondering if the Crane decided to reciprocate by ordering steak for dinner, but that somehow struck her as unlikely. She ran a few names through her mind and pondered if Akane decided to visit and brought food. The Utaku did tell the Ryudo about her door code.
Inputting the numbers she steps inside and blinks. Pink. Small. Wonderfully sunny. And the second time in the past ten days that this has happened to her. Her mind races, trying to figure out what she did wrong and comes to the logical conclusion that she hadn't.
"Okay, Mako-chan, how did you guess my door code this time?" she asks as she closed the door behind her. "Smells lovely, by the way."

Mako was smiling when Hisui came through the door, and had to laugh into her hand at that reaction, "Let's just say I know you? I don't wanna reveal all my secrets~" She winked, as she teased her Nee, "I wanted to spend an evening with you. And well, I thought that this would be a surprise. You know I love surprising you." She motioned over the meal.
"I'll have you know, getting this was quite a task! But I thought my Sui-nee deserved the best. She is the best, after all."

Hisui smiles too, beaming and bright as she moves closer. She extends her arms for a hug, motioning for Mako with her fingers. It had been too long since they had done this under happier circumstances, she thinks. Today had been a good day so far, and she wasn't about to ruin it by not hugging the pink Imperial. And besides, what's a little display of affection between two very close people?
"Alright, alright. I might as well not bother with the code anymore," she says, accepting the teasing with theatrical surrender. "Oh, it's a surprise alright. But I wouldn't turn down a nice, quiet evening with someone as important to me as you are. And the food certainly smells lovely. I swear, you and Fuyu-chan spoil me rotten."

Mako was happy to take that hug, and giggled as she leaned herself against Hisui. It was nice, comforting, warm, safe, something she enjoyed so much, the proximity and love, "Of course! Why bother with a code, I'll just figure it out anyways!" She was actually, one hundred percent, happy, to have this time together, just the two of them. "And well... I don't think it's possible to spoil you rotten, Sui-nee. You're too sweet~" She giggled as she gave the light flirtation, enjoying herself for what was allowed.
"I've been practicing my cooking too. I didn't make these ones... but I'm hoping to make you a nice dinner some time! To thank you for all the times I ate with you. Because I feel bad, always just buying stuff, it's not nearly as nice as making it for you by hand."

She lets the little one sink into her. The Utaku was warm and soft and welcoming, and her arms wee open to the Otomo whenever needed. She held tight, missing that closeness and that connection. Even if Mako had become her better, Hisui found she could only find pride in that.
"Well, you spoil me anyway. And sometimes I do enjoy being spoiled," she giggles as she motions for the two of them to sit.
She looks over the food again, making an appreciative sound as she does. Hisui always enjoyed a good meal. Mako would have known it was one of life's great pleasures for her Sui-nee. "You've been learning how to cook? Now I feel bad that I referred a nice young man to ask if you had an opening for a personal chef."
A pause, followed by a smirk. "Unless you're terrible."

Mako giggled at the little appreciative sounds from the woman, reaching over and motioning to the food, "Eat. We can eat and talk. I can release you." She still sat wiggled in close to her Sui-nee, but she didn't have an arm around the woman.
"Even if I'm great, I'm sure a personal chef will be more excellent to have. I mean, sometimes it's nice to cook, with love for the people you love. But sometimes it's nice to have a lavish feast prepared without needing to work at it." She giggled, adding a little extra bit, "Also, I am incredibly lazy~"

Hisui took up the offer, marveling at the fact that this was the second time that day she was doing this. Mako sat closer, of course, and that was fine. It just meant Hisui had to be mindful of a little thing like the ring that was on her finger. She didn't want to risk hurting Mako by flaunting it.
"Well, if it helps, I think you know the boy. Gyushi Kogeki-san. I hired him earlier to cook lunch for me and Fuyuko-chan," she comments, hoping that this might make things easier. "And yes, it's nice when someone you love thinks of you and prepares something for you. It's really the best feeling in the world, isn't it?"
She giggles along at the bit about laziness. The Utaku could understand that sentiment too. There were times when all she wanted to do was lay back and let someone else take control. Someone she trusted, of course.
Trust. The idea brought her thoughts back to Mako and to an earlier conversation with Uetani about Nomen. And an even earlier one with Akane. She chose the happier topic.
"So, when did you plan to tell me you were dating Akane-chan?"

"Oh! I... I sorta know him? Not terribly well." She shrugged, it wasn't exactly like she knew him that well, she'd interacted with him a couple times, but hey. What else could she say about it, "I'd be interested in getting to know him better, I guess! If he wants to work for me."
And then the next question. She gulped, "Well. Uhm. Uh." She hesitated and stuffed a huge piece of food in her mouth. Chewing it over, waiting. "...Once I was graduated...?"

"Well, I hired him to cook lunch for me and Fuyu-chan earlier. It seemed better than buying more food from a store or taking her to a restaurant again," she answers. "He said he needed work, and I thought you might be interested. And you're much safer for him to work for than Otomo Katsumi-sensei."
She watches as Mako reacts to her question about Akane. She takes a few bites of the food herself, savoring the taste as she waits for the little pink one to compose herself. When the words finally come out, she offers a smile and a reassuring pat on the shoulder. "I'm not angry or upset, just so you know. Akane-chan is a dear friend, and I meant what I said when I would trust her with your life if it came to that."
"But I am concerned about her livelihood. If she's discovered to be carrying on an affair with a student, it could cost her what little she has. Her enemies in her own Clan would take something precious from her, given the opportunity. So I'm asking you what I asked her. Please, if only for my peace of mind, be discrete about it?"
