Noboru sees many things when he assess the lion, the first is an under current of pain that radiates out from his core. Noboru being more skilled than Ichiro could see deeper in his opponent. He would see a version of Ichiro not much younger than he is now a fire in his eyes a hatred the burrowed down into his soul but that hatred was singular and he could see the Akodo took steps to keep that hatred from poisoning the rest of him whether it was dulled by sake or the companionship of women. But this hatred was Ichiro's fuel, why he wanted, no needed to become stronger. To beat someone, his heart thirsted for revenge. Perhaps the two were not so different after all.
The rage was directed at the Akodo's own family and Ichiro still carried it today and Noboru could see it in the Akodo's eyes but there was. Something, no someone there a new thing that seemed to be quelling some of that rage suffocating it, the Akodo was clearly in love and strongly at that.
Of Noboru the dragon only sensed mild annoyance towards himself from Ichiro. The other boy did not hate or harbor any serious ill will for the dragon.

Perhaps they were far more alike than either realized. While he clearly loved Doji Hoshiko, for a brief moment Ichiro would see two other women in the Dragon's soul, both different from the first. One he would instantly recognize, the other likely not.
In a surprise move the Dragon shifted out of his stance, bowing to Ichiro.
"Yours is the superior stance, Akodo-san, and your conviction is greater than my own. Were this an actual duel, I would have faltered just now."
It's fair to say that their skill levels aren't that far off but something spoke to the Dragon in that moment. That someone was important to them both, but the light with which they each saw that someone...
Sometimes someone just needs something positive in their life happening more badly than you do. His actions and words were entirely sincere, if a bit awkward.

Ichiro shifted out of his own stance slightly puzzled by what he had seen and by what Noboru had said. "If you say so Mirumoto-san. Your stance seemed pretty good to me but you are more experienced that I in these thing." Knowing what he saw of the dragon Ichiro grew curious "what did you see?" Was his simple question though Noboru knew exactly what he was asking about.

"I saw that you need her more than I do, that you need each other more than she and I need each other." The Mirumoto smirked a little, "I can't have her and Hoshiko both, so I hope she accepts you and you complete each other because if I can't promise I'll be kind to you if I ever find out you hurt her."
"Whatever else I saw," he bowed in deference, "is not my business unless you wish it to be. Friendship is tested when it's time to share the burden."

"You can be assured I will never do anything with the intention of hurting her." He nods the dragon seems to have assessed the situation appropriately.
"As for the other.....we may speak of it at some point, you are someone who may appreciate my problem." As Ichiro talks of it Noboru would notice he seems like a different person, not the jovial happy lion. This is a serious man, more serious than his change when he fights this was more intense and much darker. The lion's eyes were aflame with anger but his on was surprisingly intact.

Noboru nods a bit. He didn't know the Lion well enough to share his own burden just yet, but that he walked alongside Uetani was more than enough reason to give him the chance to trust him sooner or later.
"When a Samurai has said he will perform an action, it is as good as done. Nothing will stop him from completing what he has said he will do. He does not have to 'give his word'. He does not have to 'promise'. The action of speaking alone has set the act of doing in motion. Speaking and doing are the same action," he offered, quoting what all samurai are taught of the tenet of Sincerity while hopefully making it clear that Ichiro's word on the matter is good enough as long as he doesn't prove otherwise.
"So what are your plans after you graduate, Akodo-san?"

Ichiro shrugged "I will likely join the military to serve my lord. I will continue to practice, I aim to become a great warrior one day. One worthy of legend and bring glory to my clan whatever it may be."
"And what of you Mirumoto-san?"

"No offense, but that sounds very... Lion." Noboru offered a smile to Ichiro. It was awkward but also genuine as he hoped it would cause the Lion to laugh a bit.
"As for me? I don't know. There are some matters I need to resolve, not only a duel with Kakita Tsuki but matters related to what you may have seen. After that?" He shrugged. "I need to find out where I stand with Doji Hoshiko-san; I'm not really sure her life is the life for me and I know she couldn't spend the rest of her life living in the middle of nowhere meditating on enlightenment or whatever we tell the other clans we do."

Ichiro chuckles a bit "Yes, I suppose it is that." Ichiro paused mulling something over. "I have to though to do what I need to accomplish I can't just be good I have to be great."
He listened to Noboru "Well I mean the girl obviously means much to you, I would fight for her. You chose her over Uetani-chan an act that should not be taken lightly, if you care about her enough you will make it work. Anything worth doing is never easy."
