The car stopped in front of the main gate, pausing at the security booth before being allowed through. It rolled slowly up the the public parking, before stopping. Inside, two women sat in silence. They looked oddly similar, though the older one was much more beautiful upon closer inspection.
Utaku Himiko wore an amused smirk, which contrasted greatly with her daughter's deep scowl.
Utaku Ryouko was not amused. She had tried to weasel her way out of going to school, but her parents had sprung the news on her at the last second, without giving her the time to build any good argument about going. They insisted it was necessary for her training. Bullshit.
The young Unicorn, who had celebrated her 17th birthday a few weeks before had therefore been forcefully enrolled, and there they were now.
"Oh, cheer up Chichi." The older woman said, earning herself a glare for both her words and the use of her childhood nickname. "I'm sure you'll have a lovely time. You'll even be able to spend more time with Tarik-kun, I'm sure he will be delighted to see you."
Ryouko growled under her breath. She would punch the damn gaijin when she saw him. Why did he have to go and mention the school in front of her mother... Angrily, she flung the door open, stalking toward the large trailer that the car was pulling. She removed the lock, opening the metal door. Inside, a majestic Utaku steed stallion turned his large head to look at her, ears propped up. "Oh don't look so happy, you big brute." She muttered at the horse as she freed him, picking up a bag of gear from the back of the trailer and throwing it across her mount's back. Daisuke huffed playfully, whining in a way that sounded eerily like a chuckle.
This earned him a flat look from his mistress, who turned and walked back out of the trailer, horse clopping after her. She opened the back door of the car, grabbing her suitcase wordlessly. Her mother still sat behind the wheel smiling serenely. "Try not to disappoint your father, Chichi!" Himiko said with a grin.
"Stop calling me that." Ryouko ground between her teeth, slamming the car door close. Her mother only laughed, waving to her. "And do try to have a good time! Oh, and don't forget to call at least once a week." This last bit earned her a flat look. The older Unicorn laughed again, before pulling out. Within a few minutes, she was gone, leaving behind her daughter and her horse, alone in the parking.
Ryouko could see and hear the commotion of people moving in across the wide main street, but she turned away from it, having no desire to speak with any of her soon-to-be fellow students. She sighed, patting the brown coat of Daisuke's neck. "Come on, let's go find where you'll be staying..." she said to the horse, who reached to gently nibble at her hair. Ryouko smiled sadly, before walking off toward the stables.
