"I actually don't know," Isao confessed. "Last time I texted her, she texted back, and I quote: None of your business. Then there was an emoji with its tongue sticking out. I think she's doing some negotiations on behalf of Ka-san and To-san, I just don't know what exactly." He shrugged lightly, though just as curious as she was about the entire matter. A part of him wondered if it was about him, or maybe his little brother, or he was just overthinking it and she was being a brat. He had no idea.

At this Tsuki couldn't help but giggle at the stories abrupt conclusion, holding the chopsticks to the side as her hand covered her mouth. "Well that certainly sounds like something a sister might say to her curious brother." Once she recomposed herself, Tsuki set the chopsticks down and sipped at her tea again.
"My mother is currently up there at the moment too. She had some meetings to attend, among other work. I wonder if they are of the same thing." Tsuki said with a curious tone.

"Oh?"
He tilted his head aside ever so slight, the look reminiscent of a curious puppy.
"What is your mother doing in Phoenix lands? Maybe whatever my sister is doing, it might be related," he suggested, perhaps hopeful he could glean insight into the mystery.

At this, Tsuki smiled and laughed once more. "Well I don't think it might do any good to say if we don't know what your sister is doing." Her ivory digits fell from covering her mouth back to the cup of tea before her.
"If it helps to slake your curiosity though, she's just working on her usual business ventures." She said in humored tone.

"Ah. Dang it."
Isao shrugged and admitted defeat on the matter. Perhaps one day he might learn. Otherwise, it was a mystery. He then proceeded to pop another squid ball into his mouth which he chewed appreciatively. The young Crane smiled as he did so, happy for the good food, tea, and company. Once he swallowed the mouthful of food, he wiped his mouth again and carried the conversation forward, keeping his lunch companion engaged. He was certainly talkative, but with the way she laughed and smiled, he was at least proving to be a good conversationalist.
"So, do you know anything about the school I should know about that might not be common knowledge? I feel like you're a little more worldly than me, if I'm being blunt. Maybe that's your vocation though, because you're smart."

Tsuki smiled again and then took to her tea once more as Isao concluded his campaign. It was nice to be in more personal touch with friends and acquaintances from the year before or summers past. Even more to be sharing actual food and drink with them as opposed to just saying so over voice chat and text. It was nice to go out into the world.
Her eyes glanced over to the window they sat by, gazing out towards the street beyond as she carefully nibbled away at her light lunch. A few cars drove by while many others took to traveling upon the sidewalks, a rainbow of colors splashed against blank canvas walls of the city. The only thing that kept her from lingering on the people was Isao's words, which quickly pulled her ocean blue eyes back over to him. The compliments were not unnoticed.
"Well, I won't pretend to say that you will find it hard not to get caught up in school drama here or there. So my advice is try and keep your focus on what matters. RHS isn't just a school we learn at. It's often considered a... diet version of court I suppose." She said with an earnest and sincere voice.

"Hmm."
Isao looked pensive as he digested the sage advice she offered him. The young Crane licked his lips and contemplated his cup as he mulled it over, thinking about the similarities between high school and court. It made sense when he thought about it; it was where all the clans mingled - Great and Minor. There were even Imperials and others, like his gaijin friend. All walks of life attended Rokugan High School: Artisans, Bushi, Courtiers, Monks, Ninjas (or so rumor said!), and Shugenja. So, if high school was like court, he would have to learn how to navigate it.
"You bring up a very valid point, which is very unique. I will keep it in mind," he said as he nodded along. "Thankfully, you'll find I have not neglected my social studies. So, I'll polish my diplomacy while I'm here. Sometimes I think I come off more like a country bumpkin than a proper samurai." He laughed. Whether that was all part of his charm or not, he wasn't sure. Isao was simply Isao; he'd focus on being the best possible version of himself without trying to be someone else.

Tsuki sipped her tea quietly as she offered a slight nod to Isao's words. "Just remember that it doesn't have to be that way. It is a school after all. It's something to keep in mind when talking or interacting with others, but most are here to educate themselves and better their bodies and minds for greater duties that await."
The cup touched the table with a soft clack against the wood, Tsuki's digits gracefully moving from the porcelain and settling back into her lap. "I think if you worry to much about coming off as a samurai, you might forget what it actually means to be one. You will do fine."

"Thank you for your advice, Tsuki-san. I'm really glad that we met and became friends," he offered, his tone sincere and his smile softer.
Isao finished off the last of his squid balls, wiped his mouth, and pushed his small plate aside. With a satisfied look about him he nodded to himself and picked up his cup to finish off the contents within. All in all, lunch had been pleasant, catching up with a friend he hadn't seen since the summer before had been welcomed, and simply enjoying good company and conversation did well for his spirits. When the server came with the bill, he handed over his card and said nothing about it. If she dared to suggest or make note of it, he'd hush her.
"We should do this regularly, you know. Maybe grab lunch once a week? I just hope we can keep in touch during the school year, even if we're in different classes."

"As am I, Isao-san," She replied.
Like her companion across the table, Tsuki made quick work of what little remained of their lunch meal. Her eyes would sometimes wonder back to the world beyond the glass, but she was never without a response or kind word for Isao. It had gone by so very fast and yet the clock showed just how long it had been. The thought of how nice this had been crossed her mind, and the woman smiled slightly from it. With the dishes gone and the bill taken care of by Isao, that meant it was time to wind things down.
"That would be nice," she said with her usual gentle voice, "I think we can manage it if life doesn't get in the way, but I won't let that stop us from trading words and wisdom when we can."
