Oh my is she the shy type. I wouldn't have pegged her as such. Otomo Katsumi smiles at her. "Come now Ichiro-Chan. No need to be so shy. I would never have thought you to be the shrinking violet type." She nods her head. "Perhaps I've given you to much attention and you fear my status as a member of the Imperial family has shaken you. Allow me to put your fears to rest then. You needn't worry about the difference in ranks. I expect you to treat me with the respect a sensei deserves during class but in down time such as this don't fear standing on Ceremony Ichiro-Chan."

That makes her smile "No one has called me cute before Otomo-sensei, it is not a word I think comes to mind for me" She stands a little taller, trying not to be intimidated by the beautiful older woman "But I am not the type that stands on ceremony either"

(OOC: I apologize, was AFK there a bit)
The second time her name is called, Tetsuko would suddenly realize it was her that was being addressed. Rising to her full height at right about six feet tall, she gives pause.
"Ano... sure, if Ichiro-san is up for a bout, I think I may have a few in me."
Though her words are polite, its the way her almost-Hida-like features brightly lighten up that belies her excitement for a match. Not the keeping of On one would expect from a Crane.

Priya gives the other woman a bow at that, and starts taping up her hands. "Boxing or wrestling? Doji-senpai?" she doesn't know if the Crane is older, but she is nearly as big as Priya, and to be honest, that makes it more likely. Hida Tetsuko Otomo Katsumi

Post by Kakita Isao on Jan 9, 2018 7:49:40 GMT -5
Kakita Isao returned from the changing rooms, changed out of his informal attire into the appropriate trappings of a student in the dojo. He wore the far more traditional hakama and kendogi worn in kendo and iaido. He was barefoot since it gave him better traction on the dojo floor. Over his shoulder he carried his bag of gear in addition to the clothes he had just changed out of. The Kakita Academy mon was adorned on his kendogi in addition to the other traditional heraldry that identified him. The young Crane beamed on his return and looked between the sensei, Badger, and Crane. It looked like Priya and Tetsuko were about to square off! Maintaining an easy smile, Isao dropped his bag on the ground and settled his hands on his hips, content to watch.

"First year's choice." Tetsuko says with a pleasant smile. "I would caution you, though, I am pretty good in both martial arts, so I'd say pick where ever your strength lies." There was no threat in her words, just a simple vocal acknowledgment of skill. After all, she wouldn't want to break a first year before school even started! ... not after the trouble she got into last year for it. Ichiro Priya

Priya grins, and steps into a sumai stance, she cheekily blows the doji a kiss. She becomes more vibrant, less self aware as she moves into her stance, and bows to her opponent. "Well, I am pretty good at this myself. For a first year" ((11 initiative - I have no idea how to go about this xD)) Hida Tetsuko

((21 initiative - she exploded on dice))
"Well, that's good. Hopefully we'll have ourselves a decent Judo team this year, then." she responds as she catches the kiss from the air and pockets it for later. Bowing low, she enters into a Southern style sumai stance.
((Going to wait for GM instruction on how to handle sparring. Don't wanna go killing each other off so soon haha!))

OOC Generally speaking, we use the regular rules for a skirmish, with the exception that you can only use wooden weapons (aka: bokken) for the spar. Across the board, we use the bokken stats (yes, we know that narratively a wooden sword and a wooden tetsubo should be different, but this is a bit of a mechanics trumping narrative.) However, non-weapon sparring gets a little harder. After all, wooden hands aren't really an option. So that being said, this is the rules for "safe" Judo sparring. We are in the process of working out Boxing atm, but for judo the rules shall be as follows: 1) Normal Skirmish rules will be followed. Initiative, stances called, etc. 2) "Damage" for Judo represents subduing your opponent as opposed to killing them. 3) In this way, we are not worrying about maneuvers to do such things as arm bars, joint locks, etc., but neither do those maneuvers offer any mechanical benefit. That all can be rolled into your RP post. PLEASE KEEP THIS CIVIL AND DO NOT GOD MODE OR ARGUE IN FAVOR OF GOD MODING. This is still a work in progress, and as such, it may not be balanced as well as we like. For this reason we reserve the right to modify how we handle the Judo sparring in future spars, and appreciate your understanding in the matter. Now, the dice bot chat channel has been lost to us, but I was able to confirm both rolls along with Obsidian before that happened. Ready? SPAR!

((In that case we should have made our stances known on roll. Oh well, not a big deal. Going Attack Stance, no benefits or penalties)) Tetsuko waits for her opponent to be ready, eyeing her up and down and studying her body. Her stance, that is. The little movements made as Tetsuko slowly circles her like a shark. In a moment, her muscular legs tense up, sending the Doji bounding towards the Ichiro! She lowers her head, rolling her shoulders into the girls belly in an attempt to knock the first year off her feet. Attack: 31Damage: 16
((As noted Damage = Effort to subdue))
