Actually, the Daidoji was relieved that this conversation was moving on off of his back. He was really hoping it wouldn’t be made into a big deal that he was not interested in pursuing any relationships. Or rather...he could have been, if he wasn’t so intimidated by other people. Even this stiff and quiet fellow felt like he was a bit too much of a free spirit to be tied down like that—though he rocked that around like a pin hidden in one’s lapel.
“Nah, don’t worry about it,” Satoru admits, popping in another bite of rice and chewing it up before continuing. “Honestly, each year is like an act in a play. Nobody wants to strut around with their heart on their sleeves unless it’s up for auction. But there’s nothing wrong with contending with your feelings backstage. If you put on an act long enough, you either start to believe it, or your true self will eat you up on the inside.”
He seems relaxed again, now that this isn’t about him anymore. “Even though we just met, we’re getting along pretty quick—unless that’s...my imagination. I dunno.” He stuffed another bite in his mouth right after that, hoping that didn’t sound weird. It probably did. It probably sounded real suspect especially after the ‘into dudes’ comment.

Ichiro relaxed a bit seeing that Satoru didn't judge him for his over sharing. "Yeah I mean you're a pretty cool guy. not bad with a blade and pretty nice to chat with. Definitely a good way to start the year, I'm sure we'll become good friends Satoru-san." Ichiro really meant it he felt like the kid was solid and that he would make a good ally moving forward possibly some water to temper his fire. Ichiro smiled to himself at the thought.

Friends? Satoru smirked at the thought. He doesn't really make any of those. Ichiro was likely offering out of pity. He wasn't fun to hang around with, nor was he particularly exciting. Most of what he did was independent of other people.
That was of course, unless the Akodo had other hobbies they might share in common.
"We should make a habit to practice frequently. It doesn't have to be here, or every day, or at this time." He shrugs. "And if you're into cycling or gaming, that's...kind of up my alley. I'm not all serious business."
That sounds dumb oh man, he just sounded so dumb. The Daidoji stuffed another mouthful of rice into his trap to keep him from saying more desperate, hopeless crap.

Ichiro beamed at the kid "yeah man regular sparring is important for maintenance and improvement I'd love to meet up often to practice. I do quite enjoy cycling but have never been much into gaming. This new build fighter stuff looks pretty dope though I would have no idea what I was doing but would totally try it out."

"Build Fighter?" Well, he had certainly heard of it, but he didn't think the school would have a large enough following for it to be considered important. It wasn't something he ever personally got into.
"I didn't think it would become so popular. Either way, if you...I don't know--if you're free, you can give me a call or send a text or whatever." He fished for his phone out of his bag. It was a fancy, new model, and unblemished by scuffs or scratches. "I'll be in here pretty much every morning until they kick me out."

Ichiro gives the boy an earnest smile. "Totally man! And the Same goes for you, if you're free or need help with something don't hesitate to text or call me I tend to be here or in the gym if I have nothing going on."

Satoru was pleased with the arrangement. Maybe this year he'd actually make some friends at school as opposed to those who had no choice but to work for himself or his father. He asked for Ichiro's number so he could contact him in the future, sending him a test text so he'd have his number in return.
