Post by Kakita Isao on Jan 17, 2018 11:30:14 GMT -5
What did he learn? That was an easy and tough question to answer at the same time. Isao rubbed the back of his neck and nervously replied, "Well, I learned I still have a lot to learn, even from an introductory level class." Isao smiled nervously, still a bit humbled by the lesson. It was unorthodox, sure, but if he couldn't master such a simple task... Did he truly understand the underlying principles at all? He was going to need to go to the dojo that night for some additional practice. He carried the Kakita name as well as the school; he had a lot to live up to.

Sakura considers the question for a moment, "One must be conscious of both themselves and the opponent."

For Noboru's part, as each of his students fail to land a hit on him he just sighs. This wasn't their failure, it was his. Could he help them? Sure. If he himself weren't still a student as well. But things like the Void just come a little more naturally for some than others. As such, the Dragon just bows to them. Apologetic, deep.
"You each have the potential, the failing is mine for not being adequate enough to explain the issue. But..."
A small smile creeps on his face, "Fall down seven times, stand up eight."

Kobushi ponders, and then speaks. "The mind is like a cup. The Void cannot center you if the cup is full of tea. You just end up spilling."

"Even the claws of a badger might move a whole mountain" she reattles it off like a proverb "There were times I was sure I would fail, only to succeed"

Satoru gives a short hum during his thoughtful meditation. “I was not going to be ready, I decided to reflect on that,” was all he had to say about his lack of performance. He wasn’t trying to offend Noboru but he had the feeling better words could have been chosen as to not sound like an ungrateful peer.
He opened his eyes, wondering just how he could respond to their sensei with something deep, maybe insightful—yeah right. He was neither. As shallow as a puddle, he’s been called several times. Maybe that’s why he can’t find his void. Not enough space.
“I have a long way to go,” was all he ended up saying in that respect.

The Unicorn taps his finder to his lips before answering. "Appearances can be deceiving." He says looking at the tiny Crane.

He opened his eyes. There were more to speak. He closed them again.

“I learned that rote lessons are rote because they work, I simply played and trusted the teachings.” Suzaku frowns as he doesn’t seem as profound in his answer.

Fuyu nods her head. "We will of course move on to stances next time and I would like you to read Chapter one in your textbooks regarding the more common schools and give me a one paragraph essay on your own school's philosophy and lifestyle on dueling. If you were not trained as a Bushi you can chose an existing school you might sympathize that is described in the chapter and do it on them. Anything else class?"
