It had become Daidoji Kobushi's custom to soak in a nice, soothing bath after a long day. It was good to clean off the dirt and grime of the day, along with chipping away at the stress that comes with everything that defined the life of a samurai. The idea of hotsprings in RHS intrigued him. As was customary, he undressed, washed himself, and then prepared to go inside and have a soak.
He made sure to check he was about to go into the right side of the bath twice, having witnessed the wrath of samurai-ko whose baths were intruded by a hapless boy in Crab lands.
"Ah." He soaks, relaxing against the side. "That feels so good."

Kakita Isao joined Kobushi in the bathhouse, padding in perhaps 10 minutes later after he went through the rituals of bathing before entering the hot springs proper. "Hey, Daidoji-san," Isao greeted his fellow Crane as he climbed into the water, setting down his towel as he did so. Just as he was a bit on the shorter side, he was also lean and not particularly defined. He was a martial artist and runner, not a body builder which was par for the course for the average Crane. Once he settled into the springs he sighed in relief, feeling the hot spring water soak into his tired body. After a long day it felt great. He folded up his glasses and set them behind himself as he reclined, relaxed, and made himself comfortable.

Kobushi waves.
"This feels great, doesn't it Kakita-san?"
In contrast, Kobushi was built differently. His frame had more muscle. Not bulky, but far from the lean build of a Kakita. More lean muscle, and in different places. Along with more than a few hints of old scars and scraps. But it is also clear Kobushi takes some pride in his appearance, and if one can get past the scarring, he seems like an unusually well-built Daidoji.
Which, in his defense, is exactly what he is.

"Oh, it's great alright," he groaned, feeling his body physically unwinding like a spring.
Isao closed his eyes and leaned back, settled his arms back to rest along the edge of the pool, and enjoyed the baths. It wasn't just the physical relief that he enjoyed but the mental relief as well. The weight of the day was lifted from his shoulders. He had attended his first three classes, got to know more of his fellow class mates, and felt like he had made some new friends. He felt like he was making strides in building his social circles and if the day before had anything to say for him, he was doing well.
"So, where did you say you were from again? I thought you said Daidoji provinces last night, but i don't recall where."

"I was born near the Lion border, but my family moved around a lot," he answers. "The first time I had a long-term home was when I was shipped off to Clear Water to train with the Hida Pragmatists."
A pause as he relaxes, soaks deeper.
"How about you?"

"Clear Water. Yeah, I remember that from last night," he murmured.
"Me? Well, I'm from Samui Kaze Toshi (Cold Wind City). It's a major port for shipping up and down the coast, from the Crab's coastal provinces up to the Phoenix lands. I grew up there when I was not spending the rest of the year training at the Kakita Academy. Clear Water have a spring this nice?"

"No, but we had a really big pond that was nice and chilly all year long," he answers. "But I did use the hot springs during the class trips to the Kuni provinces. Some geothermal hot spot with a number for a name. Assuming the girls didn't take them over first."

He nodded along, listening to Kobushi as they bathed along in the hot springs. Isao had expected more that evening but he wasn't about to complain for the springs being over crowded either. Peace and quiet was nice. While he was known for being talkative, he appreciated the value of silence. There was a Zen quality to a serene setting so he enjoyed the quiet camaraderie for what it was worth.

Kobushi lets long moments pass by. The water was soothing. He lost aching in muscles he forgot he bad. If he was prone to poetry, he might think the water was whittling away at his many concerns.
"You know, I thought this place would be more popular."

"It being quiet isn't a bad thing," he suggested. "I'm not a big fan of crowds. There's serenity in places like this, at times like this. Back at the KDA I always found solace not in the big, group classes but those that were more personal or one on one. It helps your focus. It's not to say you can't learn in a loud, open environment... But here? You get to sit back, relax, and think without other people drowning out your thoughts, you know? Maybe I'm just different, but I like it that way at times."
