Mochihime bows respectfully to the sensei. Still her smirk is telling.
"Fufufufu. Oh dear, total Courtesy, no less. Are we quite certain about that, Mirumoto-sensei? I mean, as an Otomo and therefore a kuge among all you lowly buke? Would the bowing and scraping from 'total Courtesy' not be disruptive for the lessons, sensei?"

Aiko smiles at the Otomo, "Excuse me, Otomo-san, but I fear you are forgetting that the rules are different between student and sensei when in the Dojo. In the Dojo, you listen to your sensei and do your best to learn from them, instead of assuming you know more than they and that as a virtue, Courtesy goes both ways. After all, those higher on the ladder should hold themselves to a higher standard."
She turns to the Miya and the Akodo, "Now. Where were we. Ah. Yes. Grips and stances..."
She starts to show the girls the proper grips and stances, unless interrupted by, say, a contrary Otomo not realizing that not dropping the subject would be something best avoided.

Wait. What? Why isn't she a kuge? Is it a mistake or a provocation of some sort? Did she do something to her cousin? And why on earth isn't she speaking in defence of the Emperor's peace? That's her job, right? Otherwise she is just working for the mail service.
The Miya hesitantly approaches Mochihime. "Peace, cousin?" She whispers and smiles a toothy smile.

A dainty finger goes up. "Oh, please excuse me, Mirumoto-sensei! Of course, I hear and obey, but I must simply interrupt. I seemed to have missed the presence of Miya-san and must offer her my abject apologies for dismissing her as a lowly buke like the rest of the samurai present. She's of course a proper member of the Imperial kuge. Like me." A bow. "Moushi wake arimasen deshita, Miya-san." Mochihime gets out her phone and calls up the 'Doji Shonagon's Guide to Etiquette, 18th Edition Revised'-app. ("San, chan, kun, sama, ue, dono! Donooooo!" Don't know what suffix to use? How deep to bow? In what order to enter the room? Let Doji Shonagon (tm) guide you and you too can be like a Crane in Winter Court! Now also available in all app stores!") "In the spirit of being a helpful and constructive student and help achieve this classroom's dedication to total Courtesy, I do feel compelled to correct you, Mirumoto-sensei! The gulf between buke and kuge is wide enough that you should, if we wish to adhere to the highest standards of formality, address both myself and Miya-san as Otomo- sama and Miya- sama. I could not help but notice you taking some liberties there. I am happy to assist, however!" The Otomo girl does not exactly ooze smugness, but she might have to work a bit on her sincerity. She waves her phone in the general direction in the general direction of her sensei. "Oh, and there is a chapter on dojo etiquette! Fancy that! Fascinating, no?" She quickly navigates to the relevant chapter. "In a mixed group it appears students of higher standing, being myself and Miya-san, obviously, should be trained first. So, perhaps the rest should step back for now? I mean, for Courtesy's sake?"

Aiko turns her attention to the Otomo, her face no longer smiling, just calm, "If you wish for instruction to be handled in proper order, Otomo-sama, then I will be glad to help with that. I suppose we might start with a spar, as you seem confident in your abilities with sharp objects."

It is time for the Emperor's herald to carry a message of peace. For the firefighter to put down the flames of discord. For the police officer to put the argument into the deepest cell. It is time for Miya Asurito to act! The girl takes a step forward and raises her index. "A word if I may?" A longish pause follows. What exactly is she going to say? "Peace?" Yeah, right... Now I'm answering the questions in my head out loud. Focus! "I mean that peace is important. Kuge and buke. We are a family. We stand together! Behind our beloved Son of Heaven. Long may he live! And we assist him in his duties towards Heavens. He has to stand," another pause, I'm such an idiot! He cannot really stand! Focus! "above everyone, like a loving father, and guide us through every single difficulty. Don't we owe it to him to forget any disagreement? To put our opinions away and respect the peace of the Empire just like children of all ages respect peace around the family table?" /OOC: Courtier (rhetoric)/Awa: 27

Mochihime blinks as the Miya goes off on a long and rambling speech about peace and waits for her to get to the point. Any point. Any time now.
...
Oh, she's finished. Another blink. No point was reached.
"Ah, thank you, Miya-san. Wise words! Should we be having an actual disagreement instead of an attempt to adhere to the finer points of etiquette, we shall certainly remember your passionate plea! Bravo!"
Right! Now where were we? Ah yes!
Now that proper protocol was established and the sensei had to concede she was right (hah!) the Otomo girl steps to Aiko, bows and assumes her stance.
Well, a stance as seen on television. This would be her first lesson, really. Still, she looks cool. Of course she does!
"I am ready, Mirumoto-sensei!"

Aiko listens to the Miya, briefly and feels sorry for her. After all, it was doubtful such a speech would sway the proud Otomo from her course. And she turns her attention to the problem student, and assesses her stance. The sensei picks up a pair of shinai.
Fortunes, I have seen goblins with better posture.
And she gives her opponent a bow, before entering her own stance. And then launching into a rather frenzied blur, using both "blades" to disorient and overwhelm the unskilled shugenja, leaving a few choice bruises to mark the touches required to score the match. It would not do to call this a spar, given the massive disparity in skills, but it probably does prove that provoking people who have fought and killed things from the darkest nightmares of the average Rokugani is not going to end well.

Mochihime knew this wouldn't be a real lesson the moment the sensei picked up a second blade. She was going to get 'schooled'. In her experience teachers have that tendency with her, usually springs from their insecurities when confronted with one as clearly brilliant as her! But Mochihime is a Shugenja with an affinity for Fire! She doesn't bother with defense and while unskilled she moves according through her chi. It's a simple overhead chop, but she puts her all in it, counting on being underestimated... Still, it's obvious Aiko intended to hurt her, and she did. As the exchange is over the Otomo can't hide wincing and favoring her left leg. "Ah, thank you, Mirumoto-sensei. I know understand what you mean with Courtesy..." Her eyes flicker meaningfully to the the shinai. Obey me or I'll beat you with my stick. Ah, jocks never change... "I do hope next lesson will focus on teaching kenjitsu however, Mirumoto-sensei instead of a simple display of skill, impressive though it may be!"

Aiko looks at the Otomo, "You have much to learn, about life in general as well as the blade."
She turns her attention to the other two, bowing deeply, "Apologies for the distraction. Now. Perhaps we can get back to the lesson plan I had intended."
