Eito sighs softly. "The things we do for love and duty hmm? Still, you have my aid in court whether or not I marry you. I would like to see the Mantis restored even if it means nothing for my beloved Spider. The fact that you will help me in return is just icing. But there do seem to be some disagreements. Hence why I am still single at this age." he says with just a hint of sadness before that smile flashes once again. "Perhaps it will, and even if not I can offer you a fine evening. Regardless of any arrangement you are always welcome to the pleasure of my company or..any other pleasure you may wish from me." he says with a sly look in his eye. His job has compelled him to be a booty call before but he actually liked this woman so if she took him up on it he would never mind.

Umeko looked back at him with a smile, chuckling softly. "I won't deny that it is a very tempting offer, Eito-san... It would be a lie for me to say that I didn't find you extremely charming and attractive. But for now, let us simply enjoy a good meal in good company, shall we?"

Eito gives another small bow of his head. "The offer is an open one. So. what else did you wish to know about me. I am an open book to you Umeko-san." he says as they arrive at the place. "I rented out a private room so we could speak unobserved. Mantis Seafood. Figured you would like it."

She beamed at him, nodding. "Thank you, a very thoughtful choice, Eito-san!" It was clear she was excited at the prospect of eating food from her homeland. She accepted his hand as he helped her out of the car, straightening the long dark green skirt of her dress. His question did give her a pause. She thought on it as she followed him inside, and until they were sat down in the small comfortable room. The atmosphere reminded her of home. Umeko looked around longingly, admiring the pictures and small trinkets that adorned the walls.
She had to bite down on her lip to stop them from quivering, a sudden feeling of homesickness striking her. She had always had home on her mind, but to see it so close, yet so unobtainable... "Thank you." She whispered again, her tone raw and genuine. She swallowed her tears, taking a breath. Her eyes fell down and she stared at her hands as they rested before her on the table. "Why do you care so much to help me?" The Mantis asked, her voice barely over a whisper. "Why not seek the Wasps, the Kitsune... I need your help, yet I can't seem to fathom how you need mine."

"You have traits I value. I look to seek the others two but, I think you actually have a chance. I spoke to many Spider and so few of them have the drive to make us great again. I think you fighting for us, fighting for yours would work." he says, letting her enjoy the sighs of home. "It is no trouble though Umeko-san. I know what it is like to miss your home, and I was hoping to give you any amount of comfort in our dinner tonight."

Was it comfort? Her gaze trailed around the room once more. She wasn't sure. One one hand it felt good to be reminded of what had been, on the other... It felt like a stab at her heart. A reminder of her failures at bringing back her clan, of what could never be the same.
Umeko forced herself to look back at the spider, smiling. "The drive to fight for something so abstract isn't an easy thing to find." She agreed, taking a sip of water. "I can understand why you might have had trouble finding people that have the motivation and dedication to begin such a task. Honestly some days I doubt my sanity." She grinned, taking the sting out of her words. "But then again, I've always believed sanity is a bit boring." The botanist winked, picking up the menu and scanning through it.

Eito nods to her. "My people call it the virtue of Determination. It is like the virtue of sincerity except you need to keep going even when you have doubt, when you can't fully believe in what you are doing. You drive forward out of stubbornness, dedication and love. The last being, in my opinion, the most important." He gives her a small sympathetic smile. "So I understand you fully. In many ways we are alike you and I. I think that's what I saw in you."

She didn't seem overly bothered by the fact that he'd implied she followed the same tenets he did. "Hai, we are." She admitted, eyes scanning the various offered meals. After a moment she seem to make her choice, closing the menu and placing it on the table to the side. "Tell me, Eito-san, if you were in my position, what would you do in order to convince the Emperor to reconsider his words on the matter of the Yoritomo family?"

Eito makes his own choice on the menu before he looks up to her, tapping his fingers on his lips. "Reconquest and reclamation of the colonies along with the economic structure allowed to them. Also aggressive diplomacy and marriage into the Unicorn and Phoenix to find a way to negotiate the blessings of a Kami, or commune with Yoritomo himself. Or some of the first while also winning over the Emperor's son who is here. You have a Tsurchi here, I plan to offer to coach her on the courts. She represents my own students but also, she needs all the help she can get against the slew of Imperials here."

"Truly?" Umeko asked, suprised. "I hadn't realized. I will see if I can find her and talk to her a little." The waiter knocked politely on the door, taking their orders after being allowed in and quickly leaving them again. The mantis was staring at the decor once more, looking thoughtful.
"I had much of the same ideas, to be honest, though I wasn't sure which to implement first. It might be important to plant the seed in court first, before actively trying to attack the infested islands. It will require a lot of allies and a strong army to succeed. I think the political scene is where the first steps must be taken." She spread her hands. "And I am mostly useless in that department." She stared ahead with unfocused eyes for a moment, before looking back to Eito with a more determined look.
"I have decided to trust you. I believe you are competent enough, motivated enough, and have the resources and contacts so see this insane goal of mine succeed." She stood, taking a step to the side and with a flourish of cloth knelt, head bowed. "I, Umeko of the Mantis, swears fidelity to Shibatsu Eito-sama. To serve you in your goals, and follow your orders without question. May my axe be the weapon with which you clear the path to success."
