"Ah I am sure Merenae is quite the place. Though I confess I do not know much about it." He reply's to the foreigner.
"I find all opportunities to see the beauty of swordsmanship in action to be spectacular Kakita-san." Takezou smiles back to the Crane.

She turns to the gaijin as well, interested to hear his opinion, and ready to defend the honour of Iaijutsu with her words if she must

Rodrigo nodded.
"Well, yes, they are. Used to settle disputes, even. I meant in fighting style, though. In Merenae we fight with swords drawn. I mean no disrespect, I find this all fascinating."

"Let me tell you the story, of why we fight like this, good sir" she does not know his name, and can not call him samurai-san "At the beginning of our time, there was a man called Kakita. He was not a large man, but he was quick and cunning. A fine warrior, who crafted the first katana, and used his personal style to ascend to the highest honour. His devotion to his art won him the confidence of Hantei-no-Kami, the first and greatest Emperor, and then even the hand of Doji-no-Kami, the fairest woman who ever lived. His art was so perfect, his strike so deadly, that it was declared to be the foundation of all our laws and honour. For to move in the way he did, to achieve the perfect strike, surely the gods themselves must guide his hand. In the end, he died, facing his rival in one last battle. Though he cut him down, he was wounded. A life lost in the pursuit of perfection. His beloved wife could not bare life without him and walked into the sea to end herself. Isn't it all so romantic?" Rodrigo listened, enraptured by the story. He may not have been the best student, but he did like stories, fictional or no. Besides, this girl was good at telling them. Once she was finished, he applauded.
"Well, that is quite the story! I cannot rival that, I am afraid. Any historical record that existed for our dueling tradition has been lost if it ever existed at all. Some say a king came up with it, some say it started with ancient tribes, some say it was a divine mandate handed down by Kharsis, but eh...nobody really knows."
He shrugged dramatically.
"I can respect a man dying to perfect his art, though. That takes dedication. No wonder you went with his style. Would, ah, would you mind teaching me some of it?"
He then frowned. He had forgotten to introduce himself to this girl! He bowed quickly.
"Oh, ah, my name is Rodrigo Azerola by the way."

"The Tale of a Lady Doji and Kakita is indeed a fine, romantic story," he offered with a smile.
"Very well spoken, Kakita-san. You have a fine way with words."

The young Doji smiles brightly (and blushes) at the compliments and bows as the dojo suddenly gets busy.
"Ohayo, mina-sama. Have you been blessed by Inari-no-Kami."
She does withdraw a bit to the back, especially as the gloomy-looking Kakita girl starts telling the tale of their ancestors. She knows when she is outclassed...

She bows to the group, answering with the Doji
"In your company, Doji-san, I have been blessed by many of the kami"

Rodrigo blinked, still bowing. He tilted his head up to look at the group. Were they...ignoring him?
"Uh...hello?"

"Sorry Rodrigo-san" she assumes that the first name given is his family name "Iaijutsu is taught frequently at the school, as it is one of our most sacred arts. I am not sure that I would be a fitting teacher, but there are things I can recommend"
