Tamori Yoshi wasn't sure if Kakita Tsuki would be here again today at this time. He almost hadn't come himself, but he did not wish to forsake the Fortunes on a day he thought he might need them the most. Still, her presence at the temple didn't matter nearly as much to him as seeing her at the party at Katsumi's tonight. So, perhaps they would miss each other here for the first time. The thought did make him a bit sad, but anticipation for a later encounter chased those feelings away. He stopped inside the doorway, unsure to which of the Seven he would offer his prayers and incense. Benten seemed to beckon him, but he wondered if it was just a feeling born out of selfishness. He also blushed at the mere thought of Tsuki walking in and finding him kneeling there.

Even on her days off, Tsuki was not one to break a pattern she had started. Especially one that helped keep her so in touch with the kami. Reverence for what she had been gifted was expected of any good Shugenja, after all. Still, as she had started her prayers since RHS had begun, there was another reason she found herself enjoying coming to the temple in the afternoon now.
As the door slipped open, her eyes fell upon the second reason. A young man whom she had the fortune to meet praying to the fortunes. "Yoshi-san," she called out softly as she stepped over to him.

"Tsuki-san," Yoshi says with surprise that quickly turns to elation. He faces the Crane woman as she calls his name and gives her a bow, in the process looking completely away from Benten, whom he'd only been giving a sidelong glance at this point fortunately anyway.
"I wasn't sure we'd even see each other here again today," he tells her, not hiding how happy he was to have done so. "I was only going to stop in briefly, to keep to my usual routine and give the Fortunes honor, before heading back to the dorm to get ready for the party." Too late to take them back, he winces at his last two words. Yoshi hadn't meant to press the issue of the party so soon after seeing her; he'd simply been telling her honestly what was on his mind. Though he scarcely dared consider such a wonderful thought, he did wonder just a bit if she now knew him well enough to understand his true intentions.

If his words about the party bothered her, she showed no signs of possible discussion fatigue or distaste in them. Her only immediate response was to return his bow and approach Yoshi's side as she motioned to the fortunes beyond them. "I wasn't sure if you would be here either. With the weekend and everyone free to recoup from their lessons starting, I though I would be alone," She spoke to him in droll tone, considering she was technically surrounded by the fortunes. "But I am glad that such is not the case. It is comforting."

"You're... discomforted by being alone?" Yoshi asks, surprised that anything might disturb the serenity of the woman he'd seen in quiet prayer so many times now. For him, there was often no alternative to loneliness, so over time, he came to accept it as just as natural a state as being with others, if not moreso.

Tsuki smiled but shook her head at the man. "No, not in itself. Besides, I am technically never alone," She denied, her voice soft as any other time she spoke, "But it is nice to have another who shares interests, and even more, one whom partakes in them at the same time as I do."
Her words were sincere, of little doubt there would be in that area. She felt that perhaps she might even heap him praise for doing what it seemed like many did not, but she opted out of the idea. Not for the lack of desire, but it felt odd to offer him praise. She did admire him though, for praying to the fortunes where so many other samurai seem to have forgotten about them in their teenage woes and romantic flings.

"Never... oh, you can speak to the kami?" Yoshi says, understanding dawning. Of course, no one was ever really alone and even less so in a place of worship like the one in which they stood, but the way Tsuki had said it, he realized she was more aware than most of the spirits that infused the world around them.
"I've... always wondered what that was like," he says, turning away. It took a great effort to conceal the years of pain that deficit had brought him. Here in this place with Tsuki, where he had felt such peace and contentment before, he wasn't completely prepared for the unwanted intrusion of such feelings.

"I can," Tsuki replied as she made for the fortune she normally offered prayers to. She paused in her steps as his words seem to tug at something she had not expected. Whatever it was it seemed to swing her focus back over to the young man.
"It is... nice in a way. There is not always sense or reasoning to their words, and to some it might be frustrating. I... lack the finesse or mastery to truly do it justice in what it's like," She offered up her best answer to the statement, her desire to assuage Yoshi's own curiosity.

"That's all right," Yoshi reassures Tsuki, that he still values her attempt to answer as he walks to Bishamon with her. "It's just... one of those things a person can't fully understand, unless they experience it themselves." He tries to convey with a look that their time here together was also such an thing, difficult to describe simply with words to an outsider.
"Do you... have time to offer prayer to Hotei today as well?" he asks her. "I just... have always felt very content after being here, and I don't want him to think I was taking his blessings for granted." Yoshi also wished to pray for similar blessings to be bestowed upon the two of them at the party, but again, he didn't say so in order to avoid the topic of Tsuki's attendance until she was ready.

"Perhaps," Tsuki mused in response, "Perhaps not. I cannot say if it requires one to experience to know, but I would like to think that the experience of something is not required to understand it. It would be a little sad if such a thing were a fact." She offered him a smile with her words, but it was hard to tell if it was truly a sentiment that bothered here deeper than beyond the words of the matter.
"I do," She replied, shifting towards the topic at hand, "I'd be more than happy to pray to Hotei as much as any other." Honest words from the woman, and likely a good reminder for the future. Though she often spoke to Bishamon it never hurt to offer reverence to those outside of him, here and there.
