Of course, he had quickly devised this alternate plan so that she would be relieved of any burden of guilt for not showing.
"Shall I offer prayers for you, if that's the case?" he suggests.

"I would be grateful if you did," She smiled before blinking and adding on, "For the prayers I mean. I would feel horrible if you thought I desired for you to stay waiting for me, and then not show."

"Don't...," Yoshi says, shaking his head. "There's nothing horrible about wanting to have someone to rely on... even if you don't end up needing them." He makes no secret of his own willingness to be that person for her.
"I really am looking forward to seeing the sunset now, though," he reminds her of his previous excuse for staying, chuckling a little at how Tsuki clarifying her gratitude proved she hadn't bought into it. "But, no matter what, I'll remember you in my prayers... our prayers."

Tsuki smiled again. "You are very kind to do so. I will not feel so guilty for possibly having to miss my time at the temple."
The woman closed up her items and gathered them into her arms, the last of the incense slowly burning out at this point. This moment had become the highlight of her day, and it felt even better to know that he was so willing to offer prayers in her stead. Honestly, she felt as if no words could convey that fact, for she felt it was not as simple and small as other might think it to be.

"I didn't used to think kindness was anything special about me," Yoshi tells her, "but... I'm starting to see myself better through others' eyes." He too is ready to depart, drawing close to her by the door.
"Shall we walk together back to the dorms again?" he offers.
