Momiko sighed, but gave Yoshi a wan smile, "Okay, okay... and I'm sorry too. Maybe my desire to keep certain parts of my life out of our friendship came off as me being cagey or untrusting. It's just that I don't want to drag that heavy stuff and responsibilities into my time with you; I want to be free and enjoy myself like I... well can't at other times."

"Still friends then," Yoshi confirms with a smile after their mutual apologies, though after a moment, it turns a little bittersweet. "I'm sorry you can't always enjoy yourself, Asahina-sama, but... it makes me very happy to know that when we're together is a time that you can." She wasn't often one for interpreting looks, but he gives her one of warmth and gratitude nonetheless.
"What do you think we should do next time we get together?" he asks, eager to start planning and picturing further moments spent in Momiko's company.

Momiko starts eating as Yoshi talks, nodding, "Well, I guess this is where our mutual inexperience rears its ugly head; What do friends usually do together? I like gardens if you want to do that. I can't really invite you to the girls' dorms or anything like that."

"No... of course, that's... that's not allowed," Yoshi replies, blushing. He starts eating as well, to hide his embarrassment, though he quickly recovers and becomes thoughtful as he considers her question.
"I'd like to see the city's gardens," Yoshi agrees. "We could also maybe... see a movie or something...? Except, I guess that's more of a... date... thing." Yoshi freezes as the words tumble from his lips, chopsticks midair and heart pounding. Sitting there in stunned silence, he belatedly realizes that something else was also a very "date" thing... namely enjoying a picnic lunch together in a secluded setting.

"Is it? Hm. Never actually been to a movie theater, except to the old drive-in on the north side of town. ...I guess there were a lot of boys and girls there not paying attention to the movie..."
This is all said thoughtfully between bites.

"Not... that I wouldn't... like to go on a date... with you," Yoshi says in halting, increasingly quieter tones as his brain unfreezes and hits the ground running from the end of his own last statement. Just before they can slip off, he quickly slurps up the noodles that were on the end of his outstreched chopsticks.
"So... you say there's a drive-in in town?" he asks very loudly when the mouthful is finished, his cheeks as pink as Momiko's hair.

"A date though... maybe once we get to know each other better, or longer that is? I mean, I want to just trying being friends first. That's new enough for me before I figure out what all dating entails~~ And yeah! It's neat; An old screen down in the river valley on the outskirts of town. I think someone restored it a decade back or so."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to... try rushing anything," Yoshi says, feeling compelled to explain himself and apologize before continuing on. "So... the gardens or the drive-in are both good choices for a place to go next... or we could go to a regular theater, for the novelty that would be for you. I've been to a drive-in, but not since I was... really little." He remembers being crammed into the backseat of a car and told to sleep while his mother and sister watched a double-feature. He stayed up and peeked at the samurai movie but fortunately fell asleep not long into the second one, where a magistrate had to track down a serial killer murdering prostitutes.

"Well it's not like I have a car of my own anyways. And driving with one of the servants... well, I think Jio did more than enough to make things weird the last time, neh?" she said with a big grin.
"Maybe you're right and trying a regular theater would be the way to go. Have any movies that are out that you'd want to see in particular?"

"Hrm...," Yoshi thinks for a moment. "Well, that superhero one just came out. Black Tiger? It's about an emperor of a distant land who uses advanced tech to create a persona based on his empire's sacred animal, which he uses to protect his homeland and save people. I haven't read any of the manga it's based on, but all the movies set in that universe are supposed to be really good, and people are saying this is the best one yet."
