"One step ahead of you" Ichiro responds and Kobushi can see he's undone the peace knot on his katana and has his hand on the hilt.

He nods and gets his own weapon ready.
No sooner does he do that does the sound grow louder. And is still somehow coming from behind them. A couple of street lights fizzle out.
"Is it me," the Crane begins to say as he moves to cover the Akodo's back, "or is this starting to look like a scene out of a horror movie?"

Ichiro was starting to get anxious as the sounds grew closer his grip tightened on his katana prepared to draw it at a moment's notice. He was grateful that Kobushi was there with him, two swords was always better than one.
"Nope this seems exactly like a horror movie. Good thing the good looking one always makes it to the end" he says with a smile trying to cut through the tension with a bit of humor.

"Isn't that usually a girl?" he asks, chuckling. "We're going to need a girl."
For his part, Kobushi was thankful for the Lion being there too. This was strange and far out of his depth. But then, he hadn't had much experience dealing with opponents that behaved like this.
As he speaks, he spots something blurry and...orange? Move past, slipping in and out of his sight and down a dark alley, making wood-tapping sounds as it sprinted.
"That way!" he points, ready to draw. He decides to defer to the Akodo on strategy. "Do we pursue?"

Quickly whispering a plan out "ok you go that way I'll go this way we try to trap it between us and never lose sight of each other. That's the best I got, unfortunately tactical studies never covered impossibly fast spooky opponents." He whispers dryly as he begins circling his assigned direction.

Kobushi nods and goes to cover the opposite, sword ready in case it's needed. Better to have it drawn and not need it than be caught empty-handed. Though given everything around him, being empty-handed might have been the smarter call. But Kobushi was never too bright.
As they begin to approach, the orange thing stops making tapping sounds. As the two circle it and cut off its escape routes, the orange thing starts looking like something with four legs. And made of wood.
"This just gets weirder and weirder."

Ichiro sees the weird looking creature and is totally puzzled. "What the hell is that thing?" Ichiro watches the creature jerk and twitch his hand is locked on his sword not yet drawn but ready at an instant. "You ever seen anything like this Kobushi?" The lack of honorific showing how strained Ichiro is.

"Nope, can't say that I ever have," he admits, looking at it.
What in the name of the Fortunes could possibly be an orange tiger made of wood? Why was it moving so fast? Why was it even there? And how in the world do the two of them make it go away before it hurts anyone? Should they even try, or would discretion require looking for a shugenja to handle things?
At least for now, the wooden orange tiger seemed to either not notice or not mind them.

Well shit thus is a fantastic situation, Ichiro would be comfortable facing a real tiger but this strange spirit is a problem he is totally unprepared to handle. "Shit well I mean do we just watch it and make sure it doesn't hurt anyone? It's not aggressive yet so we don't need to attack it." Ichiro is wracking his brain, he *hates* spirits anything that can't be dealt with by way of cutting it in half puts him on edge.

Yeah, this is a little beyond what we covered in Fantastic Beasts class.
"You have a shugenja on speed dial?" he proposes. "Thinking we might need back-up if it does start acting up."
