She had solid form, solid focus. Her weaknesses were not evident, but there. It was likely enough that he would be an equal match for her if it came to it. She doesn't have much interest in it coming to it though
"I am afraid I tend not to spar in Iaijutsu." she admits "I will face a sensei, who needs to learn my skill, and I will enter the club, so that it appears on my record, but fellow students... Well, Iaijutsu is for settling disputes, having the kami guide your hand. Not for clashing with another to prove who is best"
She bows to him, deeper this time, respectful that though his answer was less eloquent, she could attribute the same thoughts to it.
She slows down little more, curious to hear the answer to the Dragon's blunt but pertinent question

Nadeshiko offers the Dragon a half-bow as she talks to him properly. "I am The Flower Detective however that is not a proper name so you may simply call me." she falls silent for a moment, nibbling on her lower lip "Otaku Hanako. Yes, that will do for the moment."
She reaches down to rummage in her bag then, pulling out a magazine page clipped from the article that had the rumours of Noboru-san and his new 'love.' She holds it out to the dragon, letting him take it if he wishes.
"I'm not sure if you've heard of me but it seems that many have heard of you. I've simply come to ask if you are interested in finding out exactly who leaked your information to the media. Whether or not the rumours are true are inconsequential to me... but I know I would be angry if someone I trusted was betraying my confidence for something as petty as money."
Then she turns slightly to Kakita-san "That is perfectly acceptable, I can understand how the Kami can change things in a spar or a duel. I speak with them myself. I was simply interested in detailing the differences between your styles for my own records."

Otaku?
"I think you mean Utaku, hai?" He quirked an eyebrow at Nadeshiko but then looked down at the article as it was handed to him. The Mirumoto started reading it and a bit of a growl escaped his voice. He wasn't brash, but the incident already bothered him as it was and to see any information, accurate or not, drag him and Hoshiko through the mud like that...
You're kami damned right, I'm angry about it," he spat with a bit of venom. "And the only thing keeping me from going after them for slandering Doji-san and myself is the mess it would create for her."
The Dragon took a moment or two to cool down, then gave a proper bow of apology to both Uetani and this Hanako woman. "My... my apologies to you both. I... I've been dealing with this since this morning and it's already worn on me. I can't imagine how Doji Hoshiko-san is reacting right now."
Turning back to Uetani, he watched someone who clearly seemed to be his equal performing her kata with little difficulty. Her answer brought about a bit of a smirk to his face, offering, "You're the first student I've ever heard talk like that about iaijutsu. Especially the first Crane, no offense to your clan or family, Kakita-san." The Dragon let out a frustrated sigh as he opted to enter a more traditional kenjutsu stance - except it was far from traditional for a Mirumoto as he kept his shinai in his left hand and his right hand completely free. "Especially the younger students. Most of them seem to just want to show off or impress someone so they can..."
He paused, tried not to blush at the awkwardness of the thought, looked quite uncomfortable trying to put any sort of appropriate language to an inappropriate topic - especially in mixed company - then just said. "Y-you know..."

"A lot of my family deserve some measure of offence." her tone is light "After all, not all Kakita have been heroes, and not even the good ones are heroes to everybody. The young and the reckless, I think, would do well to remember, that every stroke of the sword makes them someones villain"
she bows to him and then to the 'Otaku' "I would not dishonour your great hero Unicorn-sama, by calling you Otaku anything. For now, you can be flower-san. What is this about my kinsman and Mirumoto-san?"

"It is natural to be angry Mirumoto-senpai, it is never a nice feeling to have people prying into your personal life. I find papparazi like that to be.. terrible people." she holds the article out to Uetani then, to get her up to speed on the whole scandal.
"Some people have decided that Mirumoto-san and his friends personal life are to be front page news. Whether they just got 'lucky' finding out or if someone tipped them off... I was offering to help him find out for sure. It seems I was right to offer based on how much anger he has over this, some closure might be helpful."
She glances back to Uetani then, pondering her part of the conversation "I thank for you that Kakita-san, I simply use the Otaku name to keep my real identity a secret. It wouldn't do for a detective's cover to be blown you know. Bad form. Your form however is quite nice Kakita-san, you leave few openings for your opponent to exploit. If I knew anything about fighting I would be wary to have an opponent like you."

"When the sword is once drawn, the passions of men observe no bounds of moderation," came the parable from the Mirumoto even if it wasn't a quote from the Tao. He then looked to Nadeshiko, shaking his head.
"Iie. Doji Hoshiko-san and I went to a *sigh* s-sadane club last night to listen to music and give anonymous critiques of the bands. B-because there were recording labels there, there were also paparazzi. I got angry about it and she and I ducked into a hotel lobby to talk a-about it, because she th-thought I was angry with her." Another sigh as he looked away, "I guess one of them followed us."
His eyes flit over to Uetani as the "Otaku" detective gave a critique of her form, trying to talk to both at once, sighing as he did so. "If you want to look into it, I won't stop you. As for Kakita-san's form, it's one of the better forms I've seen in some time."
He then realized how that might come out talking about a female student, blushed, then added quickly, "I-I mean her techniques, n-not that..."

She winks at him, a little flirtatiousness coming out
"Doji Hoshiko-san of the black feathers? I should say that my 'form' is not that impressive next to hers"
She practices her strike
"I thank you for the compliment though. From what I have observed of your centre, and you wisdom when it comes to the blade, I would venture that you were also skilled.
"If you need help Flower-san, it is my wish to become a magistrate. I am not the best at all of their duties currently, but I would be happy to work with you to help what I could, to set something right for a clan mate and an honourable man"

"Hmmmmm Mirumoto-san. Perhaps your problem lies not in those around you... but your inability to disguise yourself. Have you ever thought about it? A wig, glasses, a different set of clothes. You'd look like a different person, even Doji-san would look entirely different. It would be much harder to figure out who you are in public and once you step into private you can remove it." Nadeshiko ponders, taking a step back to raise her fingers up to frame Noburo's face between them.
Nadeshiko pursed her lips as she pondered different looks for Noboru internally, momentarily pausing her thought process as she finally notices his light stutter, an interesting thing. Eventually she drops her arms and pulls her notebook out once more, scribbling in it as Noburo once again takes his own words too seriously and catches himself in a double entendre that perhaps only he cares about.
"I have seen some impressive forms around this school so far. It is intriguing to see how many... practiced forms the girls have. Of course, I believe entirely in the mind over the body. Why, one could look like a Hida and as long as their mind is intact, that's what matters in the long run. Hmmm, that is a tangent for another time."
The 'blonde' turned to face Uetani properly then, running a practiced eye along her form before snapping her notebook shut to hold to her chest. "I would be happy to teach you what I know Kakita-san... but I warn you. My methods are not.. they do not favour Rokugani techniques as much as most would hope. I believe in the gaijin methods, where one must have evidence of wrongdoing and guilt to prove someone is a criminal... and instead of who is the better duelist, it is up to the accuser to prove beyond a doubt that the accused is guilty."

Uetani looks confused "I don't understand. Admission of guilt is required in Rokugan before a verdict of guilty can be reached. One can request a duel to prove their innocence, but it is never mandated. A magistrate must be a good duelist lest a criminal use their skill to walk free."

The "Otaku" and the Kakita both would receive a glare from Noboru at the mention of testimony over evidence.
"Oh, for Kami's sake, the Divine mother of the Emperor himself was trained in Kitsuki's method. You'd think by now that alone was heaven's mandate that Kitsuki's method is at least equal to the use of testimony in determining someone's guilt."
At that he genuinely sounded irritated, then the use of a duel to prove innocence was mentioned and he just muttered. "Yeah, let's just duel rather than face justice. What could possibly go wrong there?"
