She trailed off, and then just kinda glanced around, and then shrugged, "Straight girls, who might like a sweet oddball." Because the rumors were already out there about her lesbian sex cult. "Uuughh, nooo!" She pouted at Kobushi, "Love is like, the purest expression of anything! Don't just let them tell you who to love. Let me tell you that!" She started to giggle at her joke, her fingers covering her lips as she said it, "If you're not in a rush, I won't rush to find you, anyone. Some people are happy as they are. And I respect you for that, Kobushi-kun~!" So friendly already.

He laughs at her joke.
"Well, I'll leave my fate in your capable hands then, Mako-san." Well, if she was going to be friendly, he didn't mind. Made things simpler. "Just don't match me with anyone who'd prefer to display affection by beating me over the head," he says, half a joke, half serious. "A friend recently helped me realize that may have been why the girls back at Clear Water kept beating me senseless."

She beamed, as she kept joking, pretending like she was writing on the palm of her own hand, "I'll make sure they're nice and demure. Or at least show their affection better than that. Ouch! My head's sensitive, it sounds painful just thinking about it. I'd probably be dead if I got affection given to me like that! You're a tough guy!" Gigglegiggle, happy talking with strangers.

Hinata imagined that if you could somehow figure out how to extract the energy from this Otomo, you could power the school for a month. Maybe a running wheel would do it. Hinata smiled, amused by her own thoughts. As hyperactive as she was, Mako seemed like a nice girl. She could see why Nadeshiko liked her. She turned her attention to Kobushi, since Mako did have a point.
"Daidoji-san, what she says is true. You may not be able to marry for love, but that does not mean you should ignore it entirely. It is...an experience that is difficult to describe unless you have felt it."
She thought of Yoshinobu as she uttered that last sentence, and she smiled gently.
"Besides, marrying for love is...well, I am not going to say common, but it happens more now than it used to. It is not something I would give up hope on entirely."
If things went well enough into the future, she was going to have to hold on to that hope herself.

"Hai~ love is great. It's the best feeling in the world. The feeling in your chest, as it swells, and grows, as you lose your breath at the thought of someone, as you dream of their face when they aren't around. The feeling of falling, but also feeling safe, of frailty but strength in their light~!" Mako makes a poem out of the idea of love, on the fly, as she practically melts from her own words, so happy and bubbly.
"But it's something that reveals itself. It cannot be forced to be found. It cannot be awakened from a slumber by its owner's will. You will love when you love!"

Or maybe he'd come so very close later in the day, only to fail at a crucial moment.
