She thinks
"I don't know if there is much call for warriors these days, and I am not, right now at least, much of a magistrate. I want to work to make things right, but I know the court isn't my calling. I want to side with those that would make things better in the Empire, not just for me, and those like me that are forgotten, but for everyone... SO that the Empire can be as good as it can be"
She realizes that is not much of an answer
"I think my path lies with the sword. I have talent for it, I believe at least, if I can just train my body to be that bit quicker"

Aiko just smiles at the answer, "No. Your first answer was fine, Priya-san. I understand what you mean. The dream of a better and more peaceful Empire. However, even a peaceful Empire needs strong men and women to defend it. There are threats from within and from without that will mean we will always need bushi. I can work with that."

She flushes. She is not much of a talker, sometimes by choice, but it is good to be praised either way
"Thank you Mirumoto-sensei" she smiles and bows her head "I don't know if I have the talent, that people seem to see in me, but I will rise, and do all I can to make you proud"

Aiko laughs softly, "I suspect you will, Priya-san. And if you want to improve your agility, I have an old Mirumoto trick for that."
She goes over to the selection of bokken, eyeing them for a moment before selecting one and offering it to Priya. If the Badger takes it, she would find that the balance on the wooden blade is fine, but the weight is off from what she would normally expect, as it is heavier than a normal katana.

Priya smiles, taking the blade in a two handed posture and trying out a few kata with it, careful not to overbalance as she does.

"Training with a heavier blade is going to force your muscles to relearn based on the extra weight, which results in your actual blade feeling lighter and more naturally a part of you. Of course, there is a slight learning curve, but one that I suspect you'll easily overcome," Aiko says, smiling and watching the Badger's stance closely.

She does her best to impress, though focusing as much as she can on doing it right rather than showing off. There is a right way to learn things, and damnit Priya will learn in that fame work. If she is going to show the world that she is morethan a wedding topper she will do it right.

Aiko would occasionally tap Priya when her form slips, providing a gentle but firm correction. The Mirumoto keeps quiet as she does so, letting her actions speak for her. She seems intent on making sure Priya does in fact learn and improve herself, as any good sensei would.

She goes through the forms for a long time without speaking, her muscles not tiring easily. Eventually she pipes up
"Di you have a mentor, back when you were my age Mirumoto-sensei?"

A moment's thought and then a nod, "Hai. Bayushi Makubesu-sensei, a student of the Black Sword of Bitter Lies and one of the major influences on me as to what it means to be a sensei. I...wound up not studying kenjutsu with the sensei they had here, as they attempted to ban the trading Mirumoto techniques, on the grounds that the use of Niten was too much of an advantage and he should know as someone who used it."
The way she says the last part makes it clear that Aiko views the study of Mirumoto's signature text as something one does not simply "use" and to do so is a rather grave insult to her personally.
