One piece of business had been concluded. The next one would come in the later hours, and without warning. Nomen took advantage of the card given to her at the start of the year to break into the teachers offices, and her thorough studying of the school had allowed her to find the correct room, and it wasn't too much effort to get into the room. She'd picked her time perfectly; now she hid, and waited... D4 AS Stealthing: 10d10ro1o10k4 38

After a long day listening to an overenthusiastic Spider prostrate himself before the Master Chef on campus, which was as tiring as it was gratifying, Saito returns to his apartment ready to enjoy some solitude. He completely fails to notice the hidden Bayushi already within his walls, taking off his jacket and beginning to undo his tie in preparation for perhaps a shower before relaxing with a book or the television.

It was as his tie was undone that she struck. She jumped out from behind him, silently, and grabbed the lengths of the tie, pulling them on opposite sides round him to choke him slightly as she pulled him to the floor. There, her legs wrapped around Saito, and she whispered in his ear.
"I think we need to talk, sensei" her tone sounded threatening "or I could just keep pulling on this" she tightened the tie round his throat again for a few moments before loosening it once more.

"You didn't think the shorts were enough to get my attention?" Saito quips back drolly. Words were his only weapon, but if he was going down, it would still be fighting.

"Ok, let's try again" she tightened the tie "I think I need to talk, and you need to listen. Nod if you understand. If you think I'm joking when I say I will tighten this until you go quiet, say something."

He inclines his head as deferentially as possible, under the circumstances.

"Good." Nomen loosened the tie around his throat "Do you know where I was before I came here? The Jewel of the Desert, on assignment. A long, long way away. And then suddenly, mid-assignment, I get a message from our champion to say I was required here. What did I do? I came here, because our champions orders are not up for debate."
She moved her hands so she could hold both parts of the tie in a single hand, and took out a knife.
"And I received my assignment. Get close to the Crab and the Lion, despite how stupid the reassignment is. I do it, why? Because our champions orders are not up for debate. THEN, I receive another message, to inform me that I have new orders. So, I come to see you, and Yoruga, and Chiyo. Not because I really want to, but because our champions orders are not up for debate. And what do I find?"
The tie tightened again.
"A debate over what I am required for, with my orders changing. Why? Because of a bleating sheep who doesn't want to lose his lay. So I say it again; our Champions orders are NOT up for debate."
She loosened the grip again.
"You may plead your case now, but know that I am a glitch. I don't exist, and I can vanish at the drop of a hat. Remember what I am, before you piss me off."

"Well... I apologize if I was unclear in the previous meeting," Saito says, with actual sincerety and not snark. It's not borne of any fear, either. "I understand and completely agree with your point, Nomen-san; the one you made several times. However, I feel you failed to consider that our orders were... just as unclear, and perhaps even a bit contradictory. We are to both destroy and acquire. I was simply attempting to resolve the dichotomy with a plan that achieved both ends." He's definitely as frustrated as Nomen with the situation, more so in that she can't seem to see he's trying to do his best for the clan, not just cater to the resident smug "genius".

She loosened the grip on his tie, slipping out from behind him to stand. The knife was still in her hands though.
"The orders seemed clear. Destroy the hardware, claim the software. Even if she builds it again, we'll have the ability to build our own. Yoruga seems to believe he's the only intelligent person within the Scorpion, but that'll come from his Phoenix training. They are all arrogant idiots after all. So, as the contact, and with just us here" she leant him, looking him directly into the eyes "what is our champions order? It will be done, and if I need to die in the process, I die doing my duty. so, tell me."

"No," Saito corrects, "the orders were to destroy everything. There's nothing they have that we need." He raises his eyebrows, hoping Nomen can get the implication behind his words without having to say it aloud. As he considers his own words, he sighs.
"There is another order that I did fail to mention," he admits. "If we can't physically destroy, the mental option was also presented. Completely discourage further work on the project by breaking her spirit; murder was expressly off the table, by the way. However, Yoruga's impression is that any attempt at this would only strengthen, not weaken, her resolve, and I was presented with no reason to doubt him. Also, crushing her will runs complete at odds with the orders to acquire her if she's useful. So, I focused on the physical and the acquisition, because it seemed we had the most to gain and inroads to the latter had already been made." He takes a moment before standing as well.
"I'm not trying to jerk you around here, Nomen-san," he says. "I am trying to do right by our Champion and our Clan, the same as you. I also understand you need a target at which to direct yourself, and it chafes at you to languish while we gather more intelligence on what exact components to destroy. I'd just have you burn the place down if they didn't have the resources to simply recreate everything." He shrugs and shakes his head.
"However," he offers, "if you think my plan about physically wrecking something key and then removing the supply chain is inefficient, if you think Yoruga is wrong about the effectiveness of a mental attack, and if you think you're up to accomplishing it, that route is still technically on the table. I don't know what else I can give you."
