Fuyuko nods at the others and then when Rodrigo speaks she shakes her head. "That is covered under Kitsuki found evidence. Not many courts accept it however the work around is that a Kitsuki expert may demand recondition due to their status or a duel."

Rodrigo blinked and put his hand down, baffled.
"Oh, well, that's..."
He had been about to say 'weird', but thought better about it. No need to lose his head over this.
"...alright."

Tarik kept notes and followed the conversation but avoided participating. He could understand how Rodrigo felt. The Rokugani system was dreadfully archaic after all.

Everything that Nade heard in this class made her want to simply move to another country, still she wrote everything down. IF she wanted to change the system from the inside she'd need to understand it implicitly.
At the sound of Rodrigos voice she turned slightly, offering him a warm smile... Tarik even gets a nod as she turns back and notices him too. Then it's back to the blackboard.

Fuyuko continues writing on the board. "The sword as well is unusual evidence, in that particular case the sword was marked with the emblem of a particular family of which there was only one survivor. The owner claimed it had been stolen but testimony placed it in his hands the day before the murder and as such it was admissible as evidence. Now in most cases evidence will lead to one of three things. A confession by the victim, a refusal and punishment by the Lord or local magistrates, or a refusal and trial by Iaijutsu. Because the state must chose a representative to make the accusation, some magistrates, particularly in lands where the duel is a popular form of defense, serve as accusers. This was my formal rank before I came here. It is our job to accuse the suspect in court where they often respond by challenging my honor in a duel."
