The Imperial teacher arrived at the offices of Doji Nishikawa to meet with the principle for a discussion he had arranged via e-mail. Obsidian

The door is already open to welcome Kojima to the office; to both help ventilate the room on this rather warm day, and to let him know that he was prepared to receive him.
"Seppun-sensei, good afternoon," the Doji principal says, standing motioning to the chair. "Please, take a seat. How can I help you today?"

He looked a little pale but otherwise comported himself in a strong, proud manner. The Imperial offered Nishikawa a bow before he sat down. His eyes scanned the office as a means to take a measure of the man before he fully turned his attention to the principle.
"Good afternoon, Doji-sama. I hoped to request permission to salvage from the lake. I was told to speak to you."

The office seemed pretty par for the course, with some flair that most Doji courtier would possess as far as decorations go. There are a few older pictures of Nishikawa from his time as the Imperial Nakodo, with some of the more high profile marriages he arranged - as well as some pictures from his time at the school decades ago. Accompanying them are various flower arrangements, the blossoms seeming fairly freshly picked.
"The lake?" he asked, half surprised and half curious. "What could be down there that you have an interest in, Seppun-sensei?"

"I am lead to believe a boat sunk in the lake nearly twenty years ago," Kojima explained, straight forward as an arrow. "A ship that belonged to a late student of the school here. Friends and family of the late owner have an interest in salvaging the wreckage, but doing so requires permission from you I am lead to believe."

"Oh, I see. Well it is not my place to deny a family closure. I just need to know who the previous student was. We have a list in the records detailing each vessel that has rested in the lake waters," he replied with a friendly smile.

"As I understand it, her name was Kuneho - she was a ronin as she had no family name," the Imperial explained. "Her son is currently enrolled here, a boy named Koshiro."

"Oh yes, little Koshiro. I never realized the two of them were related. I remember his mother, but only a little." Nishikawa rolls his chair over to one of the filing cabinets, each drawer labeled for a five year span. He thumbs through some of the dividers until he comes upon Kuneho's file.
"Let's see. The 'Salty Goblin.' That is the name of the vessel, correct?"

"Yes, sir," the Imperial replied, his hands clasped behind his back.

"What is your plan to retrieve it from the lake?"
