She looked down. "If you feel ashamed hanging out with me, you should just leave. Forget your debt to me an just go." A Mantis foreboding a debt sounded weird. Probably, he had forgotten that his gist of being an adolescent and music and her looks made her a bit sensitive. Yoko was a child singer more than 20 years ago. She sipped her water as she tried her best to hold her emotions.

He frowned at that.
"I... Don't think you follow," he admitted.
How do I explain this? He had accidentally touched a nerve without realizing it. "It wasn't about you. It was about me." Wait... that didn't come out right. "I mean, I was saying that sort of music just isn't my thing... it's just, I don't like the same music as kids these days, or most kids like when I was in school."

Yoko shook her head. "If you don't want to be here Just go..." She stood up. Her fist were balled angered or just sad. Her back was to the man. She was giving him a chance. Her life is music. Her communication is music.

Kojima's lips formed a firm, straight line as he looked down. He felt like a jerk even from his internal point of view. Speaking faster than he could rationalize, he had just dismissed a life's passion as if it had meant nothing. Music was important to her and he had acted like it was meaningless. Really, it would have been similar had she dismissed his military background and studies of military science. With a sigh he rubbed his temples as he attempted to sympathize with her. He didn't want her upset with him and he even liked her... Kojima stood up and approached the mic, looking for a song that approximated what he wanted to say... The music started and he began to sing.OOC: Awareness/Perform: Singing 21

A promise kept. Her frown turned to a serious line. It wasn't what she planned but seems that Scorpion alternate plans work. Her features softened but still the wound was there. She took a seat and listened.

"Winter is here and it's going on two years swallow my pride And things were looking very grim but they're looking good again Swallow my pride
"Loose lips sink ships, they say but isn't it always that way? Swallow my pride, oh yeah, oh yeah, oh yeah
"Winter is here and it's going on two years swallow my pride And things were looking very grim but they're looking good again Swallow my pride
"Gonna have a real cool time and everything's gonna be real fine Swallow my pride, oh yeah

Afterwards Kojima stepped off the stage, looked a little embarassed, but offered her an apologetic smile as he sat down next to her.

She wondered why he said he would not sing with out a drink or two. He wasn't that bad. She expected something worse. Still in the back of her mind lingered that he didn't enjoy performing in public. "Oh... so... what now?"

She wouldn't have realized it, but he put a lot of effort into that song and disregarded his own reservations about singing in public, or karaoke for that matter. "Look," Kojima began, offering his hand. "I... came off as an ass... but you don't deserve that. Music may not be my thing but I will support you since it means so much to you.
"I'm sorry and hope I can earn a chance to make amends."

She looked at Kojima. "I... If ... Think about it... how would you feel if... if you were giving a stratagem in a briefing and you were dismissed even if you are a superior tactical strategist because you look so young?" She tried to explain in some term that he may understand. "Performing a song should be like you talking and rallying up the troops morale, like gambate or banzai... I used to have stage fright but I left it all behind." She didn't take his hand.

"That's a part of life," he noted. "Age and experience play into our perceptions of otherwise. I have been dismissed by senior, more experienced officers because they were older and since I didn't measure up in their eyes, I had nothing meaningful to contribute just because I was young.
"But that doesn't make it right either. I know what this is about now... and I'm sorry about the age comment..."
He rubbed the back of his neck and retracted his hand.
