Also a girl who once had MPD this might have been on of those personalities. He would note she wasn't smiling, she seemed a bit colder than usual. That is why she tends to have contact with people and not let the cold heart of a mermaid rise.

He sighed and closed his eyes before he rubbed them. This is not what I meant, he thought, mentally kicking himself.
"Yokohime. Stop. Listen to me.
"I'm still getting to know you. I'm working to understand you. You're different and I acknowledge, accept, and I've learned to like what that means.
"But I don't know how to answer that. I could give you a thousand answers, but I'm not going to make a scene about it. But... I fucked up. I apologized. I hoped that meant something, but I'm not going to argue."
He grabbed his coat from his chair, getting irritated and angry in turn.

Her hand moved to hold his. "Gomen..." It was like touching a ice cube. "I crossed the line." She nodded and gave an apologetic bow. "Please... don't leave." With just that slight touch the girl started to melt.

It was cold but he didn't pull away. Kojima stood there a moment before he slowly sat back down. He felt so... confused, not used to this part of a relationship. He hadn't argued with anyone in a long time so it was like getting hit with a tetsubo.
"I'm... not used to dating. Much less fighting with someone. I've always tried to be... standoffish? I'm going to say stupid shit... but... I don't mean to upset you," he said quietly as he looked down, ashamed.
"This has been nice... I just don't lnow what to do with it. You're a big enigma to me."

Yoko shook her head. "I think your experience in dating is more recent than mine. 23 years since my last date with a human." She nodded. "I am not easy... and I know that. I understand that sometimes we might not agree in things. But I want you to understand that I have problems."
