Kobushi listens to all this. Try as he might, he couldn't just dismiss what Yoshi was saying. This was, as far as he knew, the second time that the girls had excluded them from some important discussion. Kobushi orders the crepes as Yoshi continues, paying for them as he tries to think of how to respond.
"I've seen the Otomo work. She makes sense, when she talks. She has a way of getting in your head," he says, though he isn't judging Yoshi. He nods in approval at how he stood up to the sensei. "I can't tell you if it's being thrown in your face, because I honestly don't know. I'm used to being kept out of the loop by everyone but superior officers. I'm used to girls not telling me anything, even if they aren't beating the life out of me. I suppose I'm used to being alone, too, because the boys didn't talk to me much unless they wanted to annoy the girls."
"So when I tell you I have no idea if they're cutting us out, it's because I'm too used to being left out to know what it looks like when I'm not," he admits. "I'm only starting to figure that out now."

"Hinata, I'll tell you this. At some point you'll need to tell the boys about this but like I said earlier this is between us for now. I'll fend them as best as I can but we can't just keep them in the dark forever. I know what it's like to be on that side of the equation and It's terrible okay?"
She squeezes the Crab a bit tighter then, running one hand down her back comfortingly.

"I...I don't want to. ...they're our friends too, we should tell them."
Hinata choked up, clearly holding back tears.
"I just...I don't know what they'll do. They could kill me. I wouldn't blame them. I'm...I'm scared, Nadeshiko-chan."

"No, I'm... almost sure they're not doing it maliciously...," Yoshi replies to Kobushi, trying very hard to stay optimistic. Recalling having similar difficulties with Momiko, he brightens a little more, adding, "I think... we just need to be honest about how it's making us feel. I'm sure they'll understand." So, in the end, he resolves to stay positive, watching as the vendor quickly puts together their four snacks.

"And not attempt to beat us senseless for asking about personal matters," he says, trying to be optimistic himself. At least, he doesn't think they'd do that. Then again, shugenja were often much more dangerous than they seemed. "I get it, though. Halfway. Nadeshiko-san does seem like the sort to keep secrets, but not because she wants to hurt people. She keeps them because she doesn't want anyone getting hurt by the truth. Hinata-san is the opposite. She wants the truth out, even if it hurts, because it's better it hurt a little now than hurt a lot later."
"I suppose you're right and we should ask."

Nade reached up to pull some of Hinata's hair away, kissing the crab lightly on the forehead. She doesn't even flinch at the taste of the makeup.
"I won't let them Hinata. If I need to I will stand in front of you and take any blows they may try and level at you. I don't think it'll come to that though, they're your friends just like I am. Okay?"

Hinata took a shuddering breath.
"Because...in this case it's the sensible thing to do. I just...I lack the will to do it."

"Do you want me to tell them? I will if you want me to but only if you want to. Otherwise I will hold your hand and give you all the strength I can muster okay?"
The Unicorn pulled back a bit then, one hand dropping down to push fingers into her own pocket so she could slide a pair of the old fashioned slap bracelets she carries up her sleeve just in case.

"I... hope they're done," Yoshi says of the girls, now that the crepes were. He takes one in each hand, waiting for Kobushi to grab the other two so that they could head back together.
