Something bothering her? What could Nadeshiko possibly mean? She had nothing bothering her aside from things Nadeshiko already knew about; unless...no, no she could not possibly know about that, could she? What had Hinata done to give it away? She had said nothing about it! No, that could not be it.
"B...bothering me? What could possibly be bothering me?" Hinata asked, her nervousness clear in her voice.

"I have no idea which is the problem but I saw your expression talking to Hisui-sensei in the Temple the other day and you flinch when we talk about ghosts and haunting and stuff. I'm not entirely sure what's wrong but I just want you to know that matter what it is, I'll always be here for you okay? If you don't feel comfortable talking about it I totally understand and I'll drop it right here okay?"
Nade continues that comforting smile (at least in her eyes it was comforting) as she reaches up to lightly squeeze Hinata on the shoulder.
"Also, do you have a tampon I can borrow? I seem to have forgotten mine at home. I'll definitely uhh repay the favour~"

Hinata shoved a hand in her purse and fumbled for a bit, her sudden terror making the action far less graceful than it should have been.
"W-what? I..."
How in Jigoku had Nadeshiko noticed that!? Too late for questions now, her friend knew. Hinata did not want to keep secrets from her friend but this was something else entirely.
"...I-I'm...terrified of ghosts, but if I told you the reason, if I told anyone the reason, I'd...they..."
Finally she pulled out a tampon and held it out to her friend, her hands shaking violently.

Nade grabbed it from Hinata and shoved it in a pocket, she hadn't actually wanted it but she was hedging her bets for later on something.
"I'm terrified of bees and wasps... which sucks when your moms a Botanist and there's an Apiary on your family grounds. I totally understand but as I said, I will never judge you no matter what. Now, you should take in several deep breaths, close your eyes and try and calm yourself down before the boys come back. Then I just want you to think about things, just take a day or two to figure out what you want to do and if you do need or want my help after that you can tell me. Otherwise I won't bring this up again but you're my friend and I just need to make sure you know I'm always here for you."

Hinata tried to take a few deep breaths as Nadeshiko suggested; instead all she managed to do was make herself hyperventilate. Nadeshiko knew; she knew. If Hinata did not tell her, she would be deliberately hiding something from her friend; that was almost as bad as lying. No, she had to tell her. She had to, it would go against every promise she made to herself after Kogeki if she did not.
"Y....y..."
The name caught in her throat.
"...Yori..." she finally managed to eke out quietly before covering her face with her hands.
What would Nadeshiko do? Would she keep quiet? Would she alert the temple and have her taken away? Would she kill Hinata herself? Whatever happened, it was out now. The consequences would be what they would.

Nadeshiko simply hugged Hinata as she stammered out the name, holding her tightly for several long moments while keeping an eye out for when the boys returned from their errand.
In the meantime she simply whispered to her friend, keeping her voice quiet.
"I really appreciate you trusting me with this Hinata. I really do. I promise I won't do a thing about it unless you want it to happen. I can't imagine what it's like to have a ghost floating around you all the time but as long as you're still the Hinata I became friends with I don't care."

Meanwhile, Yoshi and Kobushi were on their way to the crepe cart.
"Aren't you feeling... a little left out, Kobushi-san?" Yoshi asks the Crane once they're out of mutual earshot of the girls.

Hinata returned the hug, perhaps a bit more tightly than she should have. Nadeshiko still trusted her, even though she knew Hinata had a monster in her head now. A massive weight had just been lifted off her shoulders; she had someone who knew and who would not immediately turn her away for something she could not help. That meant more to her than anything. She trembled as she clung on to the smaller girl.
"I...I need to get rid of him. Somehow. I don't know how."

"I guess, but... it still feels like they trust us a little less," Yoshi says. After some more silent thought on the matter, he shakes his head. "Maybe I just let Otomo-sensei get to me; I ran into her yesterday right after we all had lunch together, and she was trying to get me to not trust Hinata or Nade and make me think they were secretly against each other too." He looks back at the temple as they reaching the sweet vendor's stand. "Except, I stood up to her for them," he tells Kobushi, "and... it sort of feels like I'm getting that thrown back in my face a little now." He's visibly torn, not knowing whether his own feelings are legitimate or if he's in the wrong, letting the Otomo's machinations and his own history of being excluded by his peers blow everything out of proportion. |
