"Not that different from a Doji Bride, if you think about it. Except most men end up marrying into the Doji, rather than the brides marrying out," he says, seeing the parallels and voicing them. "And you don't have to hate it just because you don't like why you know how to cook. What's more important is what you do with it, right?"

"Pottery? I picked it up back in Clear Water. I guess you could say the guy teaching it was one of the few friends I had. Him and the girl who gave me this scar," he answers. He sounds quite fond of both. "You'd be surprised how in-demand pottery is, with all the cups, bowls, and whatnot that get broken on a daily basis among Pragmatists."

He shakes his head. "You're thinking the village called Friendly Traveler. But Clear Water's the main hub for distributing the sake these days, so it's an easy mistake to make. I know a guy, if you're looking for some of that. Can't say he won't gouge you on shipping it here, though."

"Plum wine, huh?" That stuff was popular with my cousins who married into the Doji. The Hida I trained with would drink almost anything, though." He shudders at a memory. "Pretty strong stuff, isn't it?"
