"I would be leaving late summer so I think I can make some arrangement to go and visit." Yokohime pouted. "I have to report back. Duty always calls you know." "I'm sure they'd love to meet you. Maybe learn something from you. And early summer sounds perfect." She gives her old friend a comforting look. "Don't take too long to come back to us, alright?" Then she turns to Makubesu. "I never thought to outrun it. I knew I had to embrace it eventually," she says. Her mouth moved as if to say more, but then she felt that foot playing around hers. She decides to answer the other statement first. Then ponder the question of why someone on the other side of the table was playing footsie with her. "Perhaps when the science permits my womb to carry a child that was mine and hers, and the law makes allowances for such a procedure, it will happen." She smiles. "After all, medicine has advanced far enough from the Onyx War that it can replace my missing rib and kidney, it seems." A sip of water to focus, then the awkward question. "Father in law, is that your foot wandering near mine?" she asks, still smiling but a little less sweet.

"That is up to my father and his particular sense of my duties." Yokohime nodded. "But yes let celebrate my birthday together."

Makubesu presumes Yokohime is referring to her Spawn Father the Thunder Dragon, as she knows his own sense of her duties can be bent to whatever whim she wishes. Then Hisui asks him about his foot and, being who he is, he has to take a moment to be sure that it isn't. The next most likely suspect is immediately evident, but having been revealed to have missed his mark, Sanro's foot withdraws so quickly that he bangs his knee on the underside of the table.
"Son of a Bayushi!" he exclaims in pain.
"Well, there's your lesson in kharma for today," his father says helpfully. He smiles in apology to Hisui, telling her, "I would that the law could make me your father, but regardless of that, I am happy to act in that capacity for any who might have need of me to do so, as you might recall from your time at RHS." He looks to Fuyuko with pride.
"That said," he continues, "it is with much greater happiness that I take on that role for some." He reaches across the table to squeeze the elder Crane woman's hand briefly, then gives a sidelong glance at his wincing son. It's only teasing, however, as there's a similar look of pride in that glance to the one he afforded Fuyuko.

"That is up to my father and his particular sense of my duties." Yokohime nodded. "But yes let celebrate my birthday together." "We'd all love that," the Utaku says with a smile. She hides her laugh at Sanro's mistake behind a powder blue fan. Consequently, the action shows off that lovely ring. Hisui cuts off any questions by speaking once she recovers. "Yes, I remember that tendency. You also gave good advice." "I remember Fuyu-chan and I discussing your knack for giving advice. Aiko-chan remembers your wisdom fondly, as well." She chuckles. "She also thought you might find humor at our mutual awkwardness during our first proper meeting."

Yoko lowered her head at so much show of affection between those there in the table. Benten has not been kind to her as she comes to Ningen do in search for affection that it is not one of familial love. She felt sad, as last time she saw Kojima they had this fight and she felt it was her fault.
The former Moshi decided to keep her head low and not to see any of the show of affectionate romanticism.

Fuyuko smiles. "I for one am glad the law allowed you to adopt Yokohime-san. While I wish you had adopted me as well, I would make a poor Scorpion I think. Mother however has adapted quite splendidly I will note." she frowns at the boy, giving him that disapproving glare of a practiced cop and now teacher. She has certainly gotten scarier as she got older.
Then she glances to Hisui again. "Ah! Yes both of your advice is, quite honestly invaluable. And which meeting? The one after father broke open my skull or the one in the hotsprings?"

Hisui nudges Yoko with her foot and gives her a smile. "Things will get better, Yoko-chan. I'm sure of it."
And then she answers Fuyuko with a smile. "The one in the hotsprings. But you also said he'd laugh at us during that date that you didn't tell me was one."

"Huh? I am just wondering..." She smiled awkwardly. "Fuyuko San you wouldn't be a bad Scorpion... look at me... heh... I am as weird as they come." She chuckled at herself.

She had been listening intently with a smile at the byplay, and chimes in then
"I am quite sure though, that I would. And as mother wishes to adopt me, well, I would not wish to challenge the Bayushi name with my personality"

"Now, now, if there's living proof that there's no such thing as a "bad Scorpion", I am it," Makubesu asserts. "I mean... I am bad, specifically in the areas of jokes and self-censoring, but not at being a Scorpion, and neither are you, Yokohime-chan, despite what a certain stuffy cooking teacher might tell you." He half-hugs her around the shoulders, since she's sitting at his side.
"Don't sell yourself short on your potential at being one either, Uetani-san," he tells the Kakita across the table. "I'd hate for a smitten Scorpion to have no chance of wooing you into the Clan as his wife based on your preconceptions." He takes a moment to shake his head at Sanro discouragingly, indicating that he definitely wasn't talking about him.
"But what is all this about hotsprings and secret dates?" he asks Fuyuko and Hisui, always open to hearing a romantic tale or two.
