"Some things, no amount of training can prepare you for," Kobushi says, recalling an old lesson from long ago. "Besides, it's not like this is the sort of thing that gets covered in class."

"Yeah, I can't imagine something like this ever being taught. It's not exactly something that comes up every day."
Hinata blew out a breath
"It doesn't look like there's going to be anything more interesting out here. Should we keep going?"

Koshiro nods. "After you, Hinata-san."

"I'd be fine with going further, but you are the one with the light," Yoshi points out to Hinata as he agrees with Koshiro. He realizes too that it was a good thing she had chosen to approach the cat with her other hand rather than the one that was on fire, even if she'd only gotten bitten for her troubles.
"Unless you think we should head back and have your hand looked at?" he asks with sincere concern, because cat bites could be serious.

Kobushi, for his part, is keeping quiet on the matter. He'll go where the group goes, and Hinata is basically the decision-maker at this point. However, he does pet the cat a little more once it begins to meow in an entirely futile attempt to be fierce. It appears to have its attention drawn to something deeper in the mist.
"Hmm. Is that normal for a cat?" he asks. Then he wonders whether or not Ryuha would prefer the fish or the cat as a pet.

"My hand will be fine. I don't think that's normal for a cat, though...unless it's scared. What do you think it sees?"
Hinata held up the fire again and looked in the same direction as the cat.

Kobushi looks in that direction, and the cat is still meowing in that direction. However, he can't see anything but fog. The fire only reveals shadows of the trees and a few other assorted things you'd expect in a forest. And the ruins of that shrine the group find a few days ago.
"Nope, can't say I see anything."

"Maybe Tiger senses something that way. Or knows something that is there. They say animals can perceive supernatural things. Though that then begs the question, what sort of supernatural being would one even find in a Fortune's dream?"

"In a Fortune's dream? I'd imagine there are plenty of supernatural things that could appear. Come on."
Hinata motioned for the others to follow then made her way to the shrine.

"Hey... I remember this path," Yoshi says of what little landmarks remain visible as they continue. "Are you taking us to the site of the ruined shrine, Hinata?" While all the shugenja had deemed the area safe upon their last visit, he couldn't be sure that would be the case now that Yume-do had made its presence known to them via the purple fog. They might even have still been in the waking world that time as well; Moto Ayumu never really said how long they had been sleeping, though the assumption and implication had been at least since Goemon's statue broke, if not longer.
