Hisui wants to respond, but the kick and the speed of the escape meant that was impossible. So she just sighs. But no, she's about to let Akane get away without hearing her respond. She shouts. "I am not always irritated with you! And if I am, it's because I care about you and don't want you getting yourself hurt because you didn't think things through!"
She smiles from her perch at the edge of the pool. Of course, if she was being honest, she was angry just now. But she pushed that aside. Let it go. It was no use holding on to it, not when it could just hurt them both.

Akane does the lap back, and stops in front of Hisui, panting lightly from doing a literal sprint lap, looking up at the Utaku, "I know you're not always irritated. And I was saying thank you for that, because of the very reason you gave. You and Aiko-chan are more like family to me than any of my actual family ever was."

"To be honest? My biological family's not much of a family either," she says. There is sadness there, but the kind that's only a remnant. She's moved on. "I built a new one, once I got older. My twins, of course. If this whole business hand't happened, I'd be planning to invite you to join Yoko in staying with us over the summer."
"But before my children, I had sisters I loved with all my heart. A little Otomo with pink hair. A singing fish. A Dragon Thunder. A gold-medalist swimmer."

Akane's smile softened, "...so you really think of me kind of like family then? It's not just me?"

"Would I lie to you?" she asked, smiling brightly. "Yes, you are. I have an old picture of us from the choir years ago on a wall back home. It's there, along with the rest of my family pictures. You're my sister. The sweet, reckless aunt my twins would love."

"Thank you."
She gives a small sigh and takes off her swim cap, her coppery orange hair tied up in a braid under it. "I have so many people looking after me. I hope Fuyuko-sama won't mind doing so a bit as well."

"I'm sure she won't. But you might find the way she does that will take a little getting used to," Hisui says, deciding to reach out and ruffle that hair. "She's a lot less open than me, or Yoko-chan, or even Aiko-chan. But she'll warm up to you eventually."

"Yeah, I noticed. But she's better than a lot of the people I've had to work with in the Spider. Or the Lion. At least she seems to have a little bit of an openness to her, a kind of..."
Akane taps her chin, "...I don't know how to describe it. But a willingness, that might be a good word."

"She was lonely, you know. For years. I can't tell you a lot of the details, but she was like that for a long time. So it's hard for her because she's not used to displaying her emotions," Hisui says, explaining how she saw things. But still leaving out the details that were Fuyuko's to tell, not hers. "I've been encouraging her to make more friends, and I guess she thinks starting with the people who know me well are a good place to start?"

"Or perhaps I am simply good at getting people to open up? I know you used to be the kinda the same way, sort of quiet, hard to read. Not exactly the same, of course."
