"I wasn't exactly a social butterfly when we first met. Most people ignored me. My only friend was Chiaki-chan," she says. She realizes that she's never told Akane about her tendency to be socially invisible in her younger years. "So I had no idea how to handle people suddenly wanting to be my friend. I was completely lost for what to do!"
Mentally, a switch clicks. Yet another way the two of them were similar, but with paths influenced by the people they met. Would Fuyuko have opened up to others sooner if she'd met Akane? Hisui thought it was possible.

Akane giggles, "You're actually still kinda that way, Hisi-chan. Just more used to it I think. Handling that completely lost feeling, that is. You still get the same kinda cute confused look on your face all the time."

She pouts a little, but mostly for fun. "Okay, I'll admit that. I get confused by different things now, though. But thankfully, there are times when I can count on you to run right through the situation and it's suddenly a lot less awkward. I don't know a lot of people who can do that. Maybe just you and Mako-chan."

"What is family for?" Akane asked with that same warm smile, putting a hand on one of Hisui's knees as she looked up at her.

Hisui puts her own hand on Akane's in a loving, familial gesture. "Never stop being wonderful, Akane-chan. I know it must be hard, with people in the Spider who dislike you and what's going on with Kunshu-san. But never stop. You are entirely too good a person to be weighed down by your problems."

"Well, some problems. But then, if I have people like you and such, then maybe I can keep handling some of my other problems."
Akane's instinct is to lay her head on Hisui's lap, so she does just that, her hair mostly dry thanks to her trusty swimcap.

Hisui doesn't reject the action. She lets the former Lion rest her head there, but the Utaku refrains from brushing her fingers against the hair. She is happy to let her friend, her sister, rest like this for a little while. "I'm sure whether awake or asleep, Utaku Hisui will help Ryudo Akane as best she can. There are few things I won't do for family."

"That's because you're a good person, Utaku Hisui. You really are. And you deserve to be happy."
Akane's instinct had been familial, but the smooth bare lap against her face brought up less than familial emotions. Still, she was an honorable enough person not only not to bring them up, but not to act on them; She hadn't been kidding earlier when she said she wanted nothing more than this woman together with her love and happy.
"...remind the real me to put people in chokeholds until you can be happy there too."

"I try to be. But sometimes I don't always get it right."
Hisui has no clue what emotions run through Akane's mind. She didn't guess, instead dwelling on a silent hope for the waking Akane. She hoped that the Akane of the waking world had found happiness. She hoped that person loved with all the intensity Akane deserved, but also accept the things the Utaku never could. She hoped this, and somewhere in her mind, she suspected that the dream version had found it in a little Imperial with pink hair.
"Wait, what. Who have you been putting in chokeholds?!"

"No one yet. Cause you haven't asked me to. I mean, no one's keeping you from being with Fuyuko-sama, right?"
She looked up with a glint in her eye.
