Hinata hated this. She hated this with every fiber of her being. It was all she could do not to scream as the bubbly teenage girl in front of her told her the basics of being a maid. "Smile, be friendly, and remember the customer is always right!" was about all she'd been able to understand amidst the girl's rambling. She could do that. She'd practiced doing that. But never with so much...enthusiasm. It made her feel like some manufactured product and she hated it. The frilly pink dress they had her wearing was too loose for her frame, and she thanked the ancestors it at least had straps to keep it on. Having her hair tied into buns was uncomfortable. But worst of all, they'd made her remove her face paint, saying it made her look scary. Frankly she felt scarier without it; She felt...exposed. Like the whole world could now see her for who she really was. Still, she forced a smile and pretended to listen to the girl talk. She needed the money, and this was the only place that accepted her application, so she'd have to swallow her pride and go with it.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the tiny girl stopped squawking at her and gestured to the cafe outside of the break room. "And that's it! Have a good first day!" Hinata somehow doubted she would, but bowed in appreciation nonetheless. The girl was just trying to do her job, she reminded herself, and she couldn't fault her for that. And with that, Hinata stepped out into the cafe, ready to smile and pretend to be something she wasn't.

A backwards hatted, sunglasses wearing young man steps into the maid cafe with a large smile on his face. Locks of dark blue, nearly black hair poke out of the black hat - which sports the logo of the Toshi Ranbo Tigers, a popular professional baseball team. Rather than take the hat or the glasses off, he leaves them on, even inside.
"A maid cafe, how delightful," the young man says to himself, before his head turns towards Hinata.

And at this point, Aiko makes her way into the cafe, something of a routine for her, to indulge in a bit of whimsy over her lunch period, along with her husband, Mirumoto Dairu, who looks rather bemused by the whole thing. The two of them are wearing rather plain outfits, though Dairu's show signs of clay dust and the like. The two wait to be seated, chatting absently and going over their lesson plans for the year.

A good first day on the job indeed! Her shift had just started and already she had three customers to deal with, one of whom looked like exactly the kind of person she hated. She forced herself not to greet Yoshinobu with a glare and instead walked up to him and bowed in succession rapidly.
"Ah, hello master~! How may I serve you today?"
She tried calculating how long this would take before she could move on to the couple waiting to be seated, and then realized she couldn't. That was all up to how quickly this guy wanted to proceed. She suppressed a shudder.

"Ahh, this on.. I've never been to an establishment such as this before," the young man said, somewhat awkwardly in a mix of High Rokugani and normal speech. He cleared his throat, and folded his arms across his chest.
"I was hoping you could give me the proper maid cafe experience. I just happened to spot this, and I've read so much about these places.... I suppose you could say my curiosity is quite piqued, my lady."

High Rokugani. Oh dear, this guy was important, wasn't he? Hinata struggled not to gulp. Maybe if she could impress him...
"Of course, master! I'm here to serve you. If you'd follow me I can show you to a table!"

"Excellent!" the young man replied with a wide smile, clapping his hands together. It was only then that he noticed who else was in attendance. Aiko-sama? Damn, my ruse may not last for long at this rate. And here I was, hoping to enjoy a nice lunch out and about in peace for an exchange...
Yoshinobu bowed quite respectfully to Aiko as he passed her and her husband's table, letting his glasses lower just enough so she could see who he was. His dark grey eyes smiled at her almost playfully, hoping she would get his intent. After the bow, he followed the maid to the table.
"A fine spot. And you sound so cheerful, my lady! I feel very welcome."

And into the Cafe steps the tiny Doji. Wearing her elaborate white outfit, complete with veil, powder blue eye-patch, parasol and shocking blue lipstick is Fuyuko. She gives a small wry look around as she enters, this place was an indulgence but one she could enjoy politely. She seems mostly lost in her thoughts as she stands, waiting to be seated, that serene smile frozen on her face like a doll.

Fortunately for Yoshinobu, Aiko is more focused on chatting with her husband to notice the young heir. Either that, or she's aware of the social protocol for these sorts of places and wouldn't draw attention to the fact that he's enjoying himself. After all, this is meant to be a retreat from the real world, of status and of obligation, and to drag him in from it would be most discourteous.

And then another customer walked in. A Crane, from the looks of it. This just wasn't fair, where were the other maids!?
Hinata giggled, and hated herself for it as she twirled a finger through her hair.
"Oh, I just love being a maid! It's busy, but it's fun!"
Internally she was screaming. She was going to have to write some very dark poetry after this.
